Fearless Assassins would like to wish all of our Mexican players and members a happy Cinco de Mayo. :)
For those in regions that celebrate it, I hope that you've enjoyed the festivities, enjoyed time with family and friends, and had some wonderful food.

Background:
For those who aren't aware or unsure of Cinco de Mayo, it's an unofficial holiday that takes place during the 5th of May to celebrate victory in the battle of Puebla during a French Invasion. The 6,000 strong French troops, led by
Gen. Charles Latrille de Lorencez and under command from Napoleon III set out to grow their empire in Mexican territory after the newly elected President Benito Juarez was forced to default on loan payments. On the 5th of May 1862, the French troops were closing in on Puebla de Los Angeles, and President Juarez managed to round up 2,000 ill-equipped soldiers, led by a Texan-born General named Ignacio Zaragoza.
Gen. Zaragoza took to fortifying the city- and with some heavy artillery, led an assault against the French troops in a one day battle that had over 500 casualties for the French army, and less than 100 for the Mexicans before the French retreated from the Region.

In current times, the Holiday isn't widely celebrated in Mexico- even in the state of Puebla (where it's the most prevalent), it's not considered a Federal Holiday. However, reenactments of the battle, military parades, and festivities take place every year. In the United States however, Cinco de Mayo is both a widely celebrated, commercialized and misunderstood event; re-interpreted to celebrate Mexican culture and history with parties, parades, feasts, and celebrations occurring across the country, with some of the largest events especially in Los Angeles, San Diego, Houston, and Chicago.

For sure its an important celebration here at Mexico, so famous that is a non laboral day, and if it hits on Thursday we usually take Friday too and take the whole weekend for a 4 day total vacation for that event 😅
