-=Medic=-
the thing is you wanna keep same hardware and motherboard and upgrade to new processor?? see the motherboard processor support here P5K forget the Q8400 and get the Q9400 price difference is 30€, if you can spend up maxi to 200€ the choice is easy if you can find q9400 under 200€ you can check for Q9505 if you can find it under or around 200€ which is better, there is Q9550 but you need more than 200€ read this little review Q8400 vs Q9400
!Chuck4Abuck
i say that you should wait a lil save some money and move on up to an 1366 lga system .

Maybe later i gonna build whole new comp, but it needs to wait. hmm, here: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz = 165.90 € , Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz = 203.90 € , Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 2.83GHz = 209.90 € , Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505 2.83GHz = 212.90 € , Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz = 274.90 €. So i think best choise will be: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505 2.83GHz = 212.90 € . Will listen if someone else has experience about these models, but gonna push order button soon thanks for reply. i say that you should wait a lil save some money and move on up to an 1366 lga system . thows are really expensive here ... I know a lot of people who use Q9550 and it seems like it was the best processor you could choose over a year ago. But still even for today the Q9550 goes above and beyond what you need for gaming. If you do chose one I guarentee you will not be disappointed.

tdkxeon
first of all my guess is that you wont be doing any high end computing every day u will probably use ur pc for about 2 -3 hours everyday , maybe less dual core is good enough but if you wanna upgrade then performance wise todays quad cores from amd and intel have almost similar performance with 10:1 price ratio get an amd quad core and an asus over clocking board amd phenoms are great for gaming if you are willing to spend 500 600 bucks after cpu then u can get intel core i5 i recommend core i5 over i7's for gaming as they have integrated graphics controller u will get higher fps with core i5 ssssssssssssheesh im such a geek !! FinZeroX
BiOs, that's good, because if AMD stays on the #2 place, it will be cheaper and almost as good as Intel.
