ET Crashes when trying to start new profile game.

Hi all, 

 

Just downloaded et for the first time in ages, went to fill in player setup screen but it freezes or crashes, I don't know if being on windows 10 has anything to do with it. Ran both normal and administrator.

try running et in compability mode for windows xp

I Win 10, I had to

(1): Lower User Activity Control(UAC) in Users...

(2): Turn off App Control in Win Defender

(3): Set WolfET folders as non-read only(once)

and Run as Admin(once)

 

Make ET shortcut if You want to try compatibility mode.,

I've had luck with Run in Win 7 mode with other programs.

Downloaded etlegacy, had same issue, then change display to maintain aspect ratio, I can now create profile and access server menu. I Click on FA recruiting it starts downloading then exits and reports this...

Can now play in etpub mode not jaymod.

Don't install ET in C:\ directory or inside program files. Install it another drive or outside program files directory.

Still stalls at profile in normal et but now causes this in etlegacy when connecting to fa recruiting...

ETLegacy have pk3 downloading issues.. I suggest to use normal 2.6b client.

Got rid of etlegacy.

 

Just tried normal et with compatibility mode with, win 8, 7, vista and xp, same thing happens, it crashes so we can assume its not a windows 10 thing I guess.

SOLVED

 

I came to the conclusion it must be graphics card related. However I checked windows 10 to see if my graphics drivers were upto date it said yes. But I thought I best go to NVidia website to check as I don't trust windows and they gave me a better driver to install, even though it might be risky it said, so I did it and it worked.
