Popular Post tuppy Posted September 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted September 23, 2017 Hi Guys. I just wanted to say been back on the forums and playing on the servers has really helped in what has been a long time uphill struggle for me. I was in the royal m arines for 10 yrs and adjusted to civvy life and started a role in sales and education during that time I have suffered numerous bouts of depression. I am lets say old scholl stubborn bastard and when I first suffered from Depression was when I lost my brother 15 yrs ago and the feelings I had I thought I was been a pussy and that it would pass. But after many years realising that it aint no shame to say I have suffered with depression and that it is and has been a part of my life that during the hard times this forum and servers have helped me through it. Sounds stupid I know but I have never met so many friendly people in one community and that I thank you all for that. Suffering from depression is frowned up on and some say is a cop out or an excuse but trust me it aint its dam f***ing hard to cope with and unless you have the support and help and someone to talk to then its a very dark place. I hope if anyone on here ever suffered or suffers from it please PM and I can help and support you. Anyway guys happy fragging see you on the servers. Per Mare, Per Terram 12 Quote
Neuro Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Thanks for posting. There's nothing to be ashamed about in getting your mental health sorted out and back on track. How ever long that may take you. Whatever medications or therapy you need. That's why we have doctors-no matter how terrifying they may be to meet with lol. Everyone is going through something. Everyone reacts differently to what happens in life. Yes, there is this hovering cloud of stigma around mental health. So the more we talk about it the better. The more we know about our bodies the more emotionally, mentally and physically healthier we can be. AKA the longer we can play ET. Food for thought: "Depression is the most common type of mental illness, affecting more than 26% of the U.S. adult population. It has been estimated that by the year 2020, depression will be the second leading cause of disability throughout the world, trailing only ischemic heart disease". 4 Quote
Chuckun Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Many of us have experienced depression in various degrees of severity but one things for sure it's not weakness or anything to be ashamed of no matter what. It's one of the hardest and most frustrating and self-fueling issues to deal with and like you, I have definitely found good friendship and support here in this wonderful community! Very glad to have you with us! 5 Quote
Flible Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Luckily most young health care professionals (at least, where I studied) are growing increasingly aware of the shortcomings of old practicioners, id est (among other things) missing the impact or the knowledge to properly refer someone to the right station within health care when it comes to psychological or psychiatric conditions. 1 Quote
