Thanks! Although I am not brave enough to tackle these things any more (no time), I'm sure others will appreciate it.

I used Wonder tutorial to install ET on Linux: http://fearless-assassins.com/tutorials/article/59-wet-full-linux-installation-how-to/

I play ET on Vista and sometimes on Ubuntu both works fine without lag!

Installing ET on Linux doesn't mean you won't have lag issues, i suggest you try to understand why you have lag first.

Helpfull tutorial by Dare : http://fearless-assassins.com/tutorials/article/57-how-to-recognize-your-lag/

As i said in first topic i kno about that tuto was is very outdated 2 broken links and it wont explain much from the video drivers., plus i wanted my own. lol

internet lag issues wont be fixed by linux, but FPS drop lag issues will indeed improve A LOT or dissapear at all., i hace currently 2 pcs, one dual core , nvida gt 7500 and 1gb ram, = stedy 125 fps with ubuntu 9.04 , ubuntuy 10.04 and Gentoo, on windows 7 i will get drops from 125 to 70 wheen running fast or shooting 1 or 2 enemies in my screen. both on jaymod fa1| AND etpro servers. with 250 ping.

i also run core i5 , ati 5770 vapor, 4gb ram = stedy 125 fps with ubuntu 9.04, ubuntu 10-.04 , Gentoo , but with win even when that hardware is very decent , i get 5 fps drops from 125 to 120 while shooting enemies, so i believe the OS does indeed eliminate ur lag(FPS lag). ofc this i talk is based on my experience, hellreturn might have other issues in his tutorial and is also valid., i am just trying to make ppl try something totally harmless for ur pc to try something new and see results.

Before i did this tuto yesterday , i was testing all operating systems + ET i was able to to see what was fastest on my rig.

My results were (in order from faster to slower , meaning more fps stability on first and worse on last) --> this with both my computers:

1) Gentoo (fastest , but its a real real real pain in the ass to install )

2) Ubuntu 9.04

3) Ubuntu 10.04 ( i did tuto with this and not 9.04 cuz it was simpler to install video drivers, but i might edit the tuto for 9.04 tomorrow i think.)

4)Windows xp

5) Windows 7

6) Windows 98

cya !

Set point doesn't work with Ubuntu. Logitech needs to release Linux drivers. I can't shoot with Ubuntu built in mouse acceleration. God it's awfully crap.

There is actually a tutorial to make everything work properly with logitech mouses, i know this cuz i am usiing right now a Logitech mx518 , , if u tell me what specific problem u have , or what specific thing from setpoint u need to change, i will make u a little short tuto to do it, i have set my mouse exactly as i had it on windows without setpoint, ur right about one thing yeh i couldnt run and i tried to run setpoint but couldnt, but u can make all buttons work, remove accelaration and everything with correct guidance. = me :lol
