I'm glad NCH software has gotten their head out of their ass in terms of freeware licenses. I remember trying their products for the first time around 9/10 years ago, and getting pissed at how I'd see a google result with "Free audio waveform editor", only to have some crippled POS downloaded to my PC instead.

It's time Audacity hit the road for the #1 spot though. I've used their product for awhile now (10 years), and it's probably *the* one to beat in terms of plugins and extendability, but that UI... Good god, it screams 2005! Not to mention they haven't even released an update (or a beta client) for a year now... c'mon.
