Hey Guys it's Levi (NoCell) , and im doing a clean install of wolfenstein. I need some general help. Right now I'm just downloading the game, but the problem Ive been having is my mouse doesnt sit still on the screen with my trackpad or my gaming mouse it scrolls in whichever direction i moved it to, anybody know a fix or you think a clean install will fix it?

Heya Levi, I'm sorry but I don't have any idea about that mouse issue maybe someone else can help you with that.

But since you're doing a clean install of ET I would suggest you backup your etkey (if you already haven't) so you dont need to change your GUID after new install.
Here's how to backup & restore your etkey: http://fearless-assassins.com/tutorials/article/198-backing-up-restoring-your-etkey-guid/

Best decision you could make. :P provided you can control your time on it unlike myself :X

Huh your issue seems a bit odd. I'll have a look into it so I now what to do should i come across the same issue although i haven't heard of this before.

Good Luck tho!

Thanks for stopping by. I'm hoping a clean install will do some good. I have lost my etkey on a older laptop that took a dump. So I have to start over and figure everything out as far custom resolution, my guid, and other things.

Well in that case I'm just going to give you a link to remind how to get and add your new GUID to profile. Feel free to PM me if you need help with something, I'll try to help as much as I can.

What's the most populated server now-days? I used to play on Jay3 I believe.

Posted

The problem I'm having now is the screen resolution is to big for me to scroll, and change the resolution. ughhhhh

Can't really tell which our server is most populated since I just came back from like a year break. But according the trackbase, Jay1 is.

Ahhh that's the oldcschool server with no vcommands I believe, well anyway deleted Wolfenstein and re-installed and still getting mouse-travel. I changed the resolution to where I can get to the options and see if I configure anything but it still doesn't fix anything. Like when I'm moving my mouse, and I stop the mouse with my hand it keeps traveling on the ET screen.

Posted

Okay mouse travel is fixed I ran it in compatability mode for Windows XP. Have my resolution set, and now I need to get my new guid on here.

EDIT: nevermind it's back. I deleted the game, and probably going to have somebody use teamviewer to help me set this up right. I've tried everything, and the resolution doesn't stick, the mouse keeps scrolling (just in Wolfenstein) and I'm just bummed out I really want to play.

Often it does me also it is that a page is opened behind or another software tries and that your mouse is linked to your web page. Try to start the game just with open ET.

I've opened it alone with no other program's running and it still does it. I'm lost at this point. I've wanted to play for a long time, and actually have a good laptop that can run games no problem 10x bigger then this. The problems I'm having is the screen resolution doesn't stay put, and mouse travel. If I could get my screen fixed, and the mouse problem fixed I could move on to getting my guid, and stuff.

Okay I have no mouse travel if I set my video setting's to high in the main menu (Wolfenstein's Menu). Think that resolution is like "1120x768" or something to that nature. The game plays fine, and I have no mouse travel but when trying to change resolution to 1080p it comes out great just only displaying 2/3 of the screen and the mouse cursor on the fritz. The problem is playing on the other resolution the screen is to small for me to see, and I need to get it running in full-screen. It's only when I change to 1080p resolution I get that horrible mouse travel, and 2/3 of the screen displayed! I believe If I can get the resolution to actually fit on the screen properly it will also alleviate the mouse travel.

Are you on a laptop or what?  Search for information on the maximum resolution that your screen and your graphics software and drivers will support.

Let me find the tutorial on setting custom resolutions in W:ET.  I didn't find one :?: , but did find an explanation of setting custom resolutions.  I am sure that there are older ones in this forum.

Hi

r_mode -1
r_customheight 1080
r_customwidth 1920

vid_restart

r_primitives prob 0 for you on Nvidia 2 is usually for AMD cards.

com_maxfps to set cap which shouldn't be too much higher than your monitor Hz. I would also add to your game target +set com_ignorecrash 1; +set com_hunkmegs 256

Remember to run as administrator

I suspect that at least two elements in your system are disagreeing on what the size of the screen are and thus where the pointer or where your FOV should be.  I described above where I had 2 programs trying to keep the "focus" for themselves and making a windows pointer jitter around on my ET gaming screen.  I don't mean a menu-screen, but the actual gaming screen, where no pointer should be.

Do you see a pointer on your gaming screen or is your FOV moving around?

If you have a resolution that your system or ET cannot handle, than many strange things may happen.  I have set my resolution higher than my graphics card allowed and I didn't even get as far as noticing what the mouse was doing.   :D  I only got as far as the Limbo menu when I had an OMG reaction!

I found a set of files in one of the Fa-custom.cfg files from 2013 that lists some of the possible resolutions, both standard and custom.

exec 3.cfg //3 = 640x480
exec 4.cfg //4 = 800x600
exec 5.cfg //5 = 960x720
exec 6.cfg //6 = 1024x768
exec 7.cfg //7 = 1152x864
exec 8.cfg //8 = 1280x1024
exec 9.cfg //9 = 1600x1200
exec 10.cfg //10 = 2048x1536
--------------------------------- RedB added: standard above, custom below this line
exec 12.cfg //12 = 1280x960
exec 13.cfg //13 = 1440x900
exec 14.cfg //14 = 1680x1050
exec 15.cfg //15 = 1920x1080

I found no way to actually execute those cfgs.  There is no connection to the FA-jaymod V-commands that I could see.

The cfgs of 3 - 10 bear the names of their "r_mode" settings.  This "10" setting is the last that you can select via the ET Menu.

seta r_mode	"10"
seta r_customaspect	"1"
seta r_customwidth	"2048"
seta r_customheight	"1536"

Here is the first "custom setting":  Notice the change in the r_mode.

seta r_mode	"-1"
seta r_customaspect	"1"
seta r_customwidth	"1280"
seta r_customheight	"960"

I take it that this setting is what you mean by "1080p":

seta r_mode	"-1"
seta r_customaspect	"1"
seta r_customwidth	"1920"
seta r_customheight	"1080"

A thought :Did you reverse up the x & y numbers when you set your resolution? :o

Don't forget to /vid_restart after making changes.   :)

BTW, I had read in a Windows 10 forum that a gamer had to reduce his custom x & y settings by 3 pixels to get his game to look right.  (* out of smiley-faces *)

I'm going to work on that now my graphics card is a Nvidia 940m 2gb graphics card. Intel i5 3.2ghz processor. 8gb ram. The only thing I didn't do when changing resolution was the r_customaspect which as I'm going to try now then I will do other various things you mentioned. You jotted down quite a lot of information. lol. Also this in-computer pointer doesn't display on the screen just the regular pointer. Another bizarre thing is when I'm looking at the screen I only see 2/3 of it but when pressing "~" the Wolfenstein logo is centered in that menu where it should be in great quality.

Edit2: I'm still at a loss the computer handles the resolution just fine the scaling of the screen just isn't right.
