Carbonautics Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) Hello, Earlier I had submitted a post, and I had attached my screenshot of ET which has a resolution of 1920*1080, size is about ~363Kb, after the post was published, i clicked on my attached thumbnail, it was blurred and the size {as per the picture viewer said} was 76.1Kb. And it also says that 363Kb is uploaded but after posting it becomes 76.1Kb. [example posted below] As per the rules of the discussion where my post is, my post should be clear, but it wasnt so my post isn't qualified for it because the image was blurred. If i open the image on my pc's picture viewer i can view it very clearly but dont know whats happening on the forums. Appreciate your help, Thanks, Paton Edited November 19, 2016 by Ann!b@l Quote
Leader RedBaird Posted November 19, 2016 Leader Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) An ET SS of 1920 x 1080 is a very high resolution. The size reduction is probably to reduce the storage size on FA's hard drives. I play at 1024 x 768 and my SS looks like this, after I use the "Add to Post" on the low right side after I upload the file. It was a 296 kb file on my HD and it was 296 kb when I re-downloaded it. One more test, this time of uploading it (with a different name) without using the "Add to Post" function, as you did above. Nope, that is not it. They are the same size here. Test 2, I will try to upload a 477 kb file. OK, the second 'attached file' was reduced from 477 kb to " Size: 178.88KB " I will try to upload a second version of it and use the "Add to Post" function: This 477 kb was also reduced to 178 kb. It looks like your file was over-sized. The limit must be somewhere between your 363 kb and my smaller SS of 296 kb. I can think of two solutions: 1) you can crop part of the file to make it smaller, like this : 2) you can make a demo of each map played and replay the demo back at a lower resolution and get an SS of that. This method of cropping reduced your 77kb file to 57 kb : a 26 % reduction, which might change your 363 kb to 268 kb, which is smaller than my first 296kb upload. This method reduced it to 60 kb : a 22 % reduction, which might make your 363 kb file 283 kb. If you use a "crop the file" method, then you will have to keep an unchanged copy of the original SS for 'true proof' if it is asked for. You could also use a reputable pic & file storage site like Mediafire. Hmmm, I wonder if I could have just read the forum help to find all that out? Hmmm, I wonder if I could have just read the forum help to find all that out? ADDED: No, I did not find any information about "automatic resizing of over-large picture files". Ann!b@l Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 maybe try to modify its size with Paint.. Right-click on the screenshot, Modify, in Paint use "Resize" option and choose the way to resize it (pixels, percentage, so on). Quote

Ann!b@l Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) reduce the size? or what? I would say whatever makes your screenshot more visible. Do some tests. edit: after some tests it didn't work.. btw according properties of your screenshot, seems than the latter has a reso of 1200x675 and not 1920x1080. edit 2: when you attach a file through our uploader don't forget to also click on "Add to Post".
