Blade
Hello, I'm looking into buying a steelseries I-2, which is a glass mousepad. I've done a lot of research on it and it looks promising, but do any of yo have first hand experience with any type of glass pad. I'll be using an optical mouse so tracking shouldn't be an issue and I'm well aware of the noise it can create, but it shouldn't be a problem for me. So please give your input. Thank you Blade

CSL
I thought for optical mouse pad wasnt needed. TBH i find a pad actually hinders my play. I guess I got the wrong pad lol.

Thank you Blade My friend uses a Steelseries I-2 Blue Glass Mousepad. He switched mouse pads with me during the lan party and it wasn't that bad, it actually feels somewhat similar to an aluminum mousepad (lol borderlands lan party ftw XD). But performance wise I wouldn't know =P (I only used it for one session). I feel like its more of a preference issue though and I still prefer cloth because I am use to the friction =) . EDIT: The surface is not completely smooth if you are looking for frictionless. Its surface is like very very fine sandpaper. I feel its more smoother than cloth though

Forsaken
Just because its optical doesnt mean it doesnt require a specific surface. There are different tyles of optical and laser sensors and each one reacts differently on different surfaces, I just bought an abyssus which is an optical mouse and for me to be able to even play with it I had to sepcial order a european mousepad. The mouse blade just got is a imperator which uses a philips twin eye laser which has one sensor for x movements and one for y movements so its not optical anyways. I beleive these glass pads have a laser of cloths or something in the middle of them which is what the laser actually reads off of, the glass is just for smoothness and durability. Duckie
i don't use mousepad... mousepad used to be necessary when there was a ball in the mouse that needed to grip something... but now... mouspad = stupid...
