Bowly Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 So a week ago i was watching netflix when suddenly my main screen crash and lost connection to my pc, it just started flickering snow. I was not the cable nor the connection because the issue was resolved by restarting my pc. Also when the screen crashed it locked my pc and closed all open programs. I was hoping i wouldn't happen again, yet it just did happen again whilest watching netflix. Any ideas on what might cause this crash? Quote
Xernicus Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Sounds like a graphics card failure, or your graphics card is about to fail. This is symptomatic of a ball grid array (how IC's connect to the PCB) failure because of overheating or repeated heating/cooling.If you are using onboard graphics, buy a discrete GPU and turn off the onboard graphics controller via your BIOS.If you're using a discrete graphics card, remove it and switch back to your onboard graphics for awhile or buy a new card. You may be able to extend the life of the card by doing what's called a "reflow". Essentially you would bake the card in your oven for around 10 minutes at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Make sure to remove the heatsink and fan assembly, and have the chips facing up. 1 Quote
Bowly Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 Was thinking it would be my graphics card. Imma hope it'll just go away, my pc will be shut down soon for 2 weeks, that'll should do some good. Thanks for the fast response Xernicus. Quote
DFighter Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 you always can try looking for driver updates specially the video card and nexflix pfff waste of money several paid download programs you pay the half and have everything much faster and no uploading so atleast according dutch law not breaking any law also what I experienced ... cut power from your pc and make sure all power cables inside your pc are placed good I actually had several crashes like this simply because a power cable was failing so when I watched high quality video there wasnt enough power and my pc crashed / restarted constantly very annoying ..also make sure all programs / devices drivers are updated fully it actually can make a diffirence and last check if you dont have a harddisc failure it can cause crashes too once it's not working correct Quote

I also just cleaned my case since it was getting dusty. (used compressed air, which i know is not smart). So now i just hope it'll stop crashing. And netflix is ok, im not really watching that much atm and if i do its House, and i'm at season 2 so im good for a while ^^ Quote
