well we dutch are not good in many things but I really believe the Us actually could benefit from our knowlidge since almost 50 percent of our country is below sea level

we have also floodings sometimes it simply rains to hard in a short time but once stopped in less then hours all water is away by pumps channels rivers or structures sometimes I see the damage for example after katrina and makes me wonder the most powerfull nation in the world aint capable of making sure the water system is good some parts always have floodings while some parts need water

while with some big water ways and pumps you simply can pump the water from the flooded area's to parts that need it.

they can put people on the moon and soon on mars but this they can't manage and its sad for all those who suffer from this

Sad to see, prayin for the lost ones. Mother Earth is angry but we are being charged with the most vulnerable and innocent ones.

It all depends on how much you want to spend for a perceived threat.  The Netherlands is actively planning for the future.

True we already strenghten our dikes, deepen the rivers and actually reserve land we flow under with water when the water get to high

Also several channels and also important several company's from the gouvernament have very good pumps they can use too in case of need but its needed we spend billions and billions on it but if we dont look ahead we could lose half the country on floodings specially north west storms that are intens we simply have to guard the dikes so in case 1 would breach inhabitants can be warned on time but I really feel safe due all the measures sometimes dutch bureaucracy and rules it to get crazy from but in such matters its happy they try atleast to do all they can to prevent a new disaster like 1953 the february floods
