TheJuice Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 i've been using this old laptop for far too long now. i used to know my stuff about computers, but its been 15 years since i actually did anything with them, modifications wise etc. basically the technology is evolving but my knowledge base isnt.can anyone reccomend a good pc (not laptop) for under £400? i can worry about a screen and keyboard after. just got a new mouse & headset+mic is fine.its primary use is gaming & a little bit of browser time, youtube/emails/here etc.thanks in advance Quote
Krusnik87 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 If it was laptop, i would sure recommend one from ASUS or MSI. But if you are looking for a "standard one", with 400 pounds (shuld be around 450 euros , right?) you should go to a place which could mount it for ya, so that ya can get something powerfull cheaper. Anyway for mothercard/ or graphic one, look for asus, msi brand first. Even for the motherboard. (considering you want something build up for ya.) Overwise, check out Acer or HP for this amount of money. 1 Quote
Krusnik87 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I put another post, because it's an actual exemple of what ya can get nice to play and do other stuff for 400 pounds , considering you have screen, keyboard and so on: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/desktop-pcs/desktop-pcs/cyberpower-empire-gt-ii-gaming-pc-10141718-pdt.html (it's not something that i "create" with selecting parts. I just choose the best that this website has to offer for 400 pounds. 1 Quote

B3rk0 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 This is my desktop rig: Box: ATX NOX COOLBAY VX Processor: Intel Core I7- 4790 Mother Board: Z97-K RAM: Kingston HYPER X SAVAGE DDR3 16GB 2400MHz (Kit 2x) Graphic card: ASUS STRIX - GTX980 Disc: Kingston SSD SAVAGE 240GB SATA3 Power supply: NOX URANO VX 750 Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 612S OS: Windows 10 64 bit The Power supply: NOX URANO VX 750, is more then enough. For me you dont need to spend a lot of money in a higher PSU.About RAM, 4 GB is enough, and u can save money to buy a pretty decent cooler.Cheers 1 Quote
Vanaraud Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 8GB is minimum for today for RAM, and yes you don´t need high wattage PSU but a quality low wattage PSU: something like Corsair RMx 650\550 for GTX 970\960, or Seasonic or EVGA G2 series. Actually its bad to get high wattage PSU for low requiremeants as the PSU would work on low efficiency curve: notice the System Requiremeants % line http://www.corsair.com/en/rmx-series-rm650x-650-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-fully-modular-psu At least go for something acceptable, like something good(silver\gold rated)from Chieftec\FSP group. 2 Quote
