I understand what the intention was with implementing this new server redirect service, but what if a player WANTS to wait for a slot to open up on Jay1? I would rather just wait for a slot on Jay1 the old way, than have to click over and over again that, No, I don't want to redirect to Jay2...

Are you talking about Jay1?  You can just press the "No" tab and wait.

 

There was an "automatic Redirect" when Jay1 was down, that sent people to jay2.  I believe that it was done that way so that people did not wait and wait and wait and wait for a connection before they quit.  It saved time for the players, even if it did confuse them.  :)

 

If this is not what you speak of, which server(s) did you mean?

It probably means server is full with players playing and those speccing. That's why it redirects you.

 

...if you're talking about waiting for a slot in spectators.

Swtich your ET to 2.55version, it will not redirect you then, and you will be able to wait for an open slot.

But then you'll be plagued with bugs... just type /reconnect or play on jay2 till the next map, which is usually when people leave / join

Get some server monitor, such as HLSW or anything else that shows u live update on the server slots, meaning u can wait at the main menu of ET while the server is empty and once there's one slot free simply do /reconnect and u wont have any hustle around that anymore.

I should have said, "You can just press 'no' and wait to press the 'Connect jay1' tab again."

 

You could try pressing neither and see what it does, but that could take a while, even if a slot does open up and the server does let you in eventually.  I have had a hard time connecting to Jay 1 during the "ET Prime Time", but I go to other FA ET servers to play or to admin.   :)

 

ADDED:  I tested the "wait with no selection" and it does not work.  A slot opened up and I didn't connect automatically.

This is still a real pain in the ass for me...   :(

 

Follow my post above if u intend to make it a bit easier, i do understand that u are frustrated by the times when server is full and if u want to really play on that server u have to wait, but u could try to test some other servers out as well.

For waiting i would simply recommend u to get some real time update tracker, such as hlsw which works perfectly for me whenever server is full, i simply minimize the game and check the tracker to see when the slot will be free.

Other solution would be to purchase our Private Slot package, which gives u entire year a private slot where u can join if the server is full and u won't need to worry about it anymore.
