Hey, I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with running W:ET on a macbook. How well does it run and how do I set it up as far as patches, etc goes.

:thanks

Not really worth it, I installed ET on macbook pro first the pb goes crazy most of the time and will end up kicking you, gameplay is choppy, and the damn computer then gets so fukin hot because of apple unibody design, so my message for Steve is YOU FORGOT TO PUT A HOLE IN MY $2500 DOLLAR COMPUTER SO IT CAN COOL, MY $500 DOLLAR TOSHIBA IS A BETTER MAC THEN YOUR POS!!!!!

lol JoeDirt... It's true. Installed once on my Macbook Pro and the fan kept going and gameplay was soooooo choppy. You'd figure that the specs on the Macbook Pro are pretty decent for gaming, but I think the OS itself is not optimal for gaming since there's so many background apps executing behind the scenes. You'd think the OS/X would be not resource intensive but I think Apple has a bunch of processes they just keep running.

Stupid background processes! Stop hiding! Get out of your lair!

No seriously, I think not even a percent of all ET players play on a Mac. ETPub doesn't support it, the game itself is in a crappy state, just like it isn't finished yet. Better play on Windows, e.g. through a VM.

Works fine for me on my Macbook Pro. Only hard part was finding correct patches to play different mods. Its a shame etpub isn't supported but generally if i really want to play pub I'll reboot into vista.

Yep, you've got an on-board 9400M and a dedicated 9600M GT with a MacBook Pro. As you'd have expected, you can't run both simultaneously. To choose between them, fire up your System Preferences pane, navigate to the Energy Saver tab, choose "Better battery life" for the 9400M or "Higher performance" for the 9600M GT, log out, log in and you're done.

Ah, thanks for the tip! Tried this out. The framerate was good enough to play but the controls reallllllly sucked. I need to fine tune the mouse movements. Or maybe hook this up to a monitor and play because the screen on the Macbook Pro just had me a little dizzy. :o

Just a little side note if someone is interested:

The newest MacBook Pro models released today (the ones with the integrated Intel HD chip and dedicated GT 320/330M) provide automatic switching between the solutions without logging out and in again.
