Ol Smoke Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 I have been using adblockplus for a while now. Haven't seen it help much. Quote
Administrators daredevil Posted January 16, 2015 Administrators Posted January 16, 2015 Also, using browser addons tends to help. adblockplus is amazing and supports a variety of browsers. Script blocking addons like No Script for Firefox allows you to stop flash players and video from playing unless it's from a website you trust. How much RAM does adblockplus uses on your PC? I personally feel it's memory hogger but on systems with 16GB RAM I don't care. I installed it on my old system and it was super memory hog. I still kept it cos it removes adds like anything. Quote
SiD Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Y'know, I've never really checked before. I've used it both on Chrome and firefox, and I know that even alone, FF is a major resource hog. Not sure what's up with that, it there's a bad mem leak or what. I see myself hitting 1000K+ when using it for extended periods of time. I haven't noticed if adblock is adding onto that now, or if it's relatively the same. Now I must investigate. Quote
ajnl Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Cheapest way - don't visit porn sites Well you should visit the free ones, duh. I used to until I bought my new SSD. I got Free AVG and never get anything, if I do it pops up and deletes/blocks it. And I run CCleaner once in a while. Ah yeah, I also use CCleaner. But that isn't really for viruses or malware. 1 Quote
