That is based on the speed of your hard drive controller, and cache of your hard drive. EDIT: And ofc the available bandwidth of the FSB or HT.

Either way, that WEI is a piece of crap and you should use a real benchmark like PCmark or my favorite, NovaBench. That will give you raw data to work with.

yeah, i know that Xern. i just thought it was rather funny that i have this "decently awesome" pc and this damn HDD -_- it actually came from my 6-7 year old laptop that broke so i used that HDD after my original PC HDD crashed. now i got the original HDD working and using it is my 2nd out of 3 hard drives. its truly a crappy hard disk

Ohhhh. :P I was under the impression that it was new. 6-7 years would be, what... 120gb, 5400RPM maybe 8mb of cache and SATA I? >.< I'd probably kill myself waiting for that.

And my experiences/reasons for benchmarking HDDs has always been weird. Always due to some HDD controller issue. -_- I can't tell you how many PCIe hdd controller cards I've had to put in my previous computer(s). At least 3. (hint: don't go with Pegatron manufactured mobos, their Northbridge heat-sinking sucks -_-)

lol you were close, its an 80 gig haha. i upgraded a few components but im in serious need of a Mobo. Asus M4A77TD Pro. nearing 5 years old just like my Phenom II x3 (which is unlocked to an x4 with a little 400Mhz bump in speed. i can go much higher with my new water cooler but i dont want to push it since its been unlocked and overclocked for years now and i dont wanna burn it out. lol) by the end of the year im adding 12 more gigs of ram just for the hell of it, a new Mobo, and whatever happens to be the latest AMD processor at that moment.

Edit: and yeah man, after i was forced to use that HDD in order to repair my original HDD, startup time has been a serious b***h -_- lol. but im content cus i never shut it down. just hibernation mode when its time for a rest and occasional shut downs and restarts just to 'refresh' everything.
