Leader RedBaird Posted June 23, 2014 Leader Posted June 23, 2014 I was confused by the original story, where he wanted to wear his Marine uniform at his High School graduation ceremony. It turns out that he had graduated from Boot Camp on one day and attended his HS graduation the next day. I suppose that he finished HS early and then went to Boot Camp and then was able to attend Graduation with the rest of his class. People don't join the US military to "sacrifice" themselves, as the civilians put it. They take the risk. Those who volunteer for the combat arms or units take a greater risk. Those who take extremely exceptional risk are often awarded the Medal of Honor. They would give the medal back in exchange for the lives of their buddies, or their own. 1 Quote
