Trying to play!!

I have been desperately trying to play this game again. To my surprise when i downloaded the game it appears to have many active servers. However when I try to join it continually starts to download patches i guess then it stops the download and wont join.  It does this over and over again for every server.  How do I download what i need to play?

Did you download the game from our forum or splashdamage?

Check in console( key under esc activates it) this cvar /cl_allowDownload then enter, it should be on 1.

Did you check firewall? Might be blocking et form connecting to servers. 

Another thing to try is Running et as administrator.

If you still couldn't connect to server, please post here your pc specifications, system version also.

i am reinstalling the version from here. will check back in when I have done everything. thanks  for quick responses guys.

ok, so few months back I wanted to play on other server for change,  damn seriously so much to download  I felt my life will spend in downloading pfft.  

 

So when you are done installing ET   you can either connect to FA servers through  FA menu    or you can just type  address in console.

TBS says he was on two different FA mods:  http://et.trackbase.net/player/108972/  So if he had to download the mods' files and the maps, it could take a while.

 

AgenO, I think YoYo might want to check some settings of yours that he can see.  Changing a couple might improve your ping and/or lag.

 

He had a ping 154 on Jay3 and ping 63 on Silent 1.  

 

Don't confuse AgentOrange with a bot of the same name on another Clan's server!

hm okay, what kind of settings do i need to be looking into switching up. I have killer internet so i really shouldnt be lagging

Use command /players in game and check your settings.

If you have fast internet you should set /cl_maxpackets 100 and /rate 45000

another things you can change are /snaps and /cl_timenudge but I recommend to stick with maxpackets and rate.
