Xernicus Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Heya guys!I have been in the process of acquiring parts to build a nice, cute little new PC, and I've got everything bought except for the motherboard....I'm specifically looking at two, both sold on NewEgg.MOBO #1: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4602#ov) MOBO #2: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/) Both support easy BIOS recovery, overclocking support, core unlockers, though I like that the GIGABYTE has the UEFI support, as well as a unique MOSFET design to reduce temperatures and the supposedly high-quality integrated sound. I have a DAC right now, though I'm not all that fond of it because of it's crappy amplification (powered by USB).The ASUS has the 4 expansions slots going for it though, however I do not plan to be using the legacy PCI slots. (Seriously though, I saw a AM3+ uATX mobo with a SERIAL port. What. )Any feedback is appreciated, I am leaning towards the Gigabyte right now, however I am open to all suggestions. In addition, if someone has a link for a uATX motherboard that has 4 PCIe slots, that would seriously be great. Quote
Dare2BeFair / Captain. Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I'm actually trying to get like a small PC, but haven't had time or money to actually do it. Sry can't help :/ Quote

Sry can't help :/ Well when you get the chance to, I'm happy to help. I'm just indecisive when it comes down to things like GPUs and motherboards. I do have another Micro ATX mobo, but it has one of those godawful all-in-one northbridge/southbridge/graphics chips and it's beyond fried because the heat sink supplied was nowhere near adequate, it was really a joke of a mobo to begin with though. Xernicus Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Quick update: I guess I haven't really looked at all of my options here. o.O I just found at least 3 more uATX mobo's on Gigabyte's website that have better chipsets than the budget 760G that would be on the one in my original posting. Nope. Not being sold any more. :/ Quote
TulsaGeoff Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I like the Gigabyte at first glance. More users chose it as well. I speak without doing any research on it though. What case are you cramming it all into? I like these small builds as well, but usually end up going full tower . Quote

Xernicus Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 on the AMD option side is a lot more limited, and I'm not as familiar with the option open to you ... personally I'd go Intel ! I already have the AMD AM3 CPU, that's why I'm going with the AMD mobo. I went ahead and posted an order for the Gigabyte mobo that I linked to, as well as some new gaming RAM- Crucial Ballistix. Should arrive in 2-3 days. :3 Quote
