NQ #1 Language

I have been playing on the NQ #1 server for a while now, and I realize how pointless the automute is.

It mutes someone for bad language for 60 seconds, after which they are able to swear again, and be muted for another 60 seconds.  The time doesn't add or multiply, just stays the same. ( I find this very pointless.  But note that I do love the server. )  Also, the server has built in v-says that include the language that the server mutes people for.  What I am trying to say is that it would be best off for the server to either allow or not allow stong language, instead of just sitting on the fence.  Regardless of me wanting no language, I would prefer there to be language completely allowed instead of what the server currently has.  (I find that regulars tend to swear a lot, and it seems to do more harm than good if the vast majority of the players want to be able to swear freely.)

Again, please note that I love the server and the clan, I mean no ill towards it, I just think that the server would be better off with a final decision on the matter. Thanks!

in my opinion I dotn really see why we should mute people for saying f*** or motherf***er, on Silent servers they censore the word but there wont be a mute, I would like that to have that on other servers as well, ofcourse there are limits but those can be dealt by admins, not by an automute

 I wouldn't say pointless, even if it's easy to circumvent auto-mute, it can reduce the amount of insults and bad words on the server and this is always enjoyable, the server atmosphere's better if, for example, the guy who should have insulted someone didn't thx to automute. It can also be dissuasive, for example if a new player connects and decides to insult each player who kills him, it can discourage him and we'll get rid of a potential trouble player.

 Tbh neither automute nor admins will be able to eradicate completely bad words/insults but automute remains helpful with that. If several regulars keep insulting others just report them on the forum and we'll take care of them. If they swear, let it slide, everyone swears and it's ok as long as that's not towards other players. I think that automute was mostly set to reduce the amount of insult, not to prevent players from swearing.

Oh, I thought that the server said no swearing, I must not remember right, it was a while ago that I remember reading this in particular.  (I trust you kat0n.)  And pointless wasn't the word for me to use, it's really just inefficient compared to something like five swear warnings =  1 day mute.

I think that bad words should be censored and for example If person uses more than 5-10 He/she will get muted with an accumulated time for each next mute. And after sertain time this person could be autokicked. Just a suggestion

Not a good idea imo, this is admin job, and it would also kick or mute people who swear ocasionally or people who insult others ocasionally, and this is allowed. The current system isn't perfect but is satisfying imo

The automute is pointless...

 

It does nothing but annoy people who say censored words by accident, after 5min playing you realise you can use fuq without consequences...

But words like homo and gay are censored too (lol) and it happens to be that there is a player called gay warrior... Dam annoying to get muted because you mentioned his name.

 

Even funnier when that happens and you are the only admin around. Giving people a 60s window to do what they want, because you can't react anyway

 

New players that start insulting everybody, pretty sure there has been a rule for that for years (of course I don't know current inner workings of =F|A=)

=> 3x mute, 3x kick , ban

 

We didn't have it for a VERY long time and all worked out well. There are enough admins (well mostly) to deal with people who go on a rampage and start to insult everybody and their grandma. I never understood the need for an automute (pretty sure I have posted about that in the past).

 

For f*** sake (yeah word use intended), the game is about shooting people and you are fine with that. But swearing: THE SIN!!!

Why would you ban someone for only cursing? If you give him a mute for 1 day you will get the same effect, only if because he goes mad and starts trolling teammates or whatever a short ban might be needed.

Firstly, I've just shown the rules as they are. I meant in previous post that warn/mute is the best way for cursing, bitching etc.

Secondly, for banning there has to be some solid proof. And ban is the last option. I could saw lately that for such things we use warn,mute and kick. To ban the troubling person we take some proofs and upload on the forum and then higher admins solve the problem

 

I like the way it's solved now and truly there is no need to change it. By being part of FA we learn useful things. By advancing our responsibility is higher. When you're on server it's like you take care about every player. That makes our clan so great I love this friendly atmosphere!

Meaning !mute has it limits which can't be fixed.

Is there a restriction on names? because there was an actual player who plays in the server NQ1 for a long time there, named ETplayer, got told by an admin to change name, is there name restrictions?
