Recording cheating players

I'm just curious as to how I can record someone if they are suspected of cheating/hacking? I remember someone from fa told me to type record and the players name in the console and when I'm done to type stoprecord. I'm wondering if someone can give a little more verification as to how it is done. Do I just type record and the persons name, or do I need to type /record and the players name? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Open console by typing `

 

type: /record playername

type: /stoprecord

 

You can only use /record playername once per player. If you use /record playername again, and it's the same player, then it will overwrite your previous recording. So either Don't use /record player name again for that player, Or, move the first demo out of its folder so it doesn't get overwritten.

You can also, when recording multiple demos of the same player, use the playername, playername2, playername3, etc.

Thanks guys. That's actually very helpful; however, I've just made my first demo of this guy I believe was aimbotting. So I have two questions. 1) What kind of program do I need on my laptop to view the demo I made? 2) Where, and do I need to post it up here on the forums?

In game before you kick/ban them, type /pb_plist in the console, that will display GUID's.

/pb_plist will only work on PunkBuster enabled servers.
