Hardcore Science Fiction has been exploring the possiblities of "jacked-in humans" for decades.  The written word can explore such scenarios with much more complexity than any video can, since your own brain provides the bandwidth for the graphical elements in the story.  (and the back-button is easier to operate).

 

 

Google Glasses are just one in a series of baby-steps to that future, and will be discarded soon enough.
