hUnI Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I was reading the chat in the past few week, the main chat of the Beginners as a spectator, and i realized that some players are using this bullying tactic to aggravate others and there are ending up to talk ugly back and get kicked out from the game. Most of this player are young they don't realize this. We should do something to prevent this problem. What are your opinion about this problem? Quote
SinfulRaevyn Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Smack talk is in the nature of competitive FPS games. In my honest opinion, if a player is not old enough to realize what trolling is, or even smack talking, then they are NOT old enough to be online or playing VIOLENT shooter games. We have a protocol here. If someone is using insults constantly, we warn them 3 times. After this, if they do not learn, we move to kicks, tempbans and finally bans if it's severe enough. I hope I don't sound harsh about this. >.< I'm all for stopping cyber bullying, but this sort of thing is a different beast. The occasional JOKING is fine. Blatant insults are totally crossing the line and you have the power to make it stop. 1 Quote
Dddrgn Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Jokes are very acceptable, as well as mild smack talk during gameplay, as long as it is appropriate. If people are going way out of line, then we need to warn them and make sure they understand that we will not take it lightly. Whether we like it or not, kids who cannot take slight jokes or smack talk will play, and some people, such as me like 2 years ago, can't even take the slightest joke without breaking down. Just stress the no bullying. 2 Quote
ApfelGanja Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) Seeing how the average age of gamers nowadays is in the 10-15 range, it is understandable that maturity is not always of the highest standard. We have rules on our servers and they apply to all players on the =F|A= servers. As Dddrgn and Sin have mentioned, smack talk and jokes are fine but insulting a fellow player in any way is unacceptable and will be punished accordingly. Swearing is forbidden on the servers not because we're old grumpy grandpas, it's to make people feel welcome and not alienated in any way, and of course, to ensure a pleasurable smooth gaming experience. I understand provocation is a problem but it should clear that the excuse 'he insulted me, why can't I?' is not valid. Explaining to the younger players that even if someone provokes or insults them, they should either ignore it, or respond to it in a non-aggressive manner. docwarren Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 A problem on the server? Been going on for weeks? Not reporting it to someone? Posted in apropriate section? Biggest thing...... no proof? <sigh> Quote
Silverhawk Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 You can kick each time someone lures another member into a all out Pc to Pc Typ gangster shizz keyboard everything war but you will never succeed in getting rid of it, you can alltho warn them for their actions, it remains a FPS game and you can't not avoid getting called names when you own someone,< it's in our nature <-- wise sounding words are ftw > Quote
daBroviest Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Which is why we need to ban all PsGT members from our servers. It's like they want a clan war with us. Whenever I'm on ISDP DeathRun, these guys are changing their names to "F|A is for f**gs" and "Brovie is a f*g" and they say stuff like "OOooooh lookat this badass thinking hes so cool when hes in a clan liek that" and "oooh were joining ur server nao hahahahahaha." They've been doing this whenever I go in, and this has been for about 2 months. Ban PsGT Slash PsGT Juicy and "Brovie is a f*g" Quote

Ol Smoke Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Here is how you handle that problem. Turn off the team texting. It is usually your teammates that are bitchin all the time. Turn it off and you won't see it. Then change your config_mp.cfg by changing these settings: seta cg_chatheight "0" seta cg_chattime "0" seta cg_teamchatonly "1" 1 Quote

No offense. We can't do anything for them making fun of you when they're not on our servers. Either ignore them, or stop playing there?.. We can't just ban someone from another server.. IF they come to FA servers and cause crap, the maybe something could be done. But even then, you'll need proof and to submit a report. 1 Quote
