Does anybody know how to convert wolfenstein replays into a video format without going through each replay and doing it that way? Plus my fkeys don't work to change the replay to avi in-game.

Since demos only contain game informations , you will have to record each of them one by one.

ET's avi recording is pretty bad you should go for "Fraps" or maybe try xfire video record ( never tried it).

fraps does the same you know :P

Anyway I prefer the one in msi afterburner, it's free and less performance hitting than fraps in my opinion.

and for what I heard (not yet tested myself) is that dxtory is also good.

Using the built in avi recording gives the best quality and leaves you with the smallest sized files. It is harder to use than fraps, but it does give better results

It's impossible to turn a demo into a movie without loading ET. As regards the keys, you can still use

/cl_avidemo fps

where fps is the number of frames per second you want.

I agree, well, not about the size but about the quality for sure.

If you want the best quality you need to record from et, use a config especially made for movies, and possibly use image-et if you want things like motion blur and other effects.

Not to mention the fact that if you compress the video with fraps, you will have a poor quality if you want to add other effects with video editing software.

(As far as I remember) when I made a short movie years ago, I used image-et to load ET and made some tga screenshots, which in turn I edited and turned into an avi with a lossless codec using virtualdub, then I used vegas or something similar to add effects, sync with music, etc. it takes loooots of time.

But if you want to make a clip quickly, and you don't care about good quality, use fraps or similar. If you want to make a frag movie like those top-quality ones you see around, you need to record from ET.

There are 4 parts, that is part 1. Look them all and you are ready to go.
