putts
is there a way that the forum can remove or archieve old threads? or get a better description of "dead topics" in the forum rules? so this doesnt happen again: http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/16378-how-much-you-pay-for-internet/page__st__30?do=findComment&comment=350479 it's not clear. 1 year old threads i personally would NOT consider to be "dead" but apparently the admins here do. some of the subject's have 2011 on the first page... it's not like people are digging 10 pages back to dig up something that happened 5 years ago... some of the subjects are not very busy. new topics aren't poping up very often in those sections. revieving an old thread is easy to do and aparently is a "big deal" to some of you. maybe even cut back on subjects? maybe "General" can cover everything and not have 10 different sub groups.. just a thought after getting no response in the linked post other than: "Again guys, like Krayzie said, try to look at the date. " it's not very helpful Thanks, putts
Kat0n
is there a way that the forum can remove or archieve old threads? or get a better description of "dead topics" in the forum rules? I disagree the first point, it would the reduce the accessibility to old topics (which can be interesting), and cases of reviving are not common enough to take such a measure imo. However, +1 about the rule added in the forum rules, it could reduce a bit the amount of people who revive old topics. btw we could also, instead of putting the rule in forum rules (which are, I think, rarely consulted) make a pinned+locked topic for each section about that. Just an idea.
ajnl
I think it is partly covered in this rule: No spamming by repeatedly posting the same thing or bumping dead topics for no particular reason If the last reply is a year ago then it is considered a dead topic. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that after 3 months it is considered dead?
Administrators daredevil Posted October 8, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 8, 2012 If you have something good to add it's alright to revive old topic but if you are just reviving old topics to increase the post count or just saying some random things, it's not allowed. At max a moderator will give you a soft warn on forums so that you get aware of it. Warning is just a way to say please don't do it and it helps to keep in sync with other moderators too. I normally warn for one month and after that warming level is auto reduced to zero.
putts
from the link in the OP, should the guy ressurectting the topic start a new topic which is the same? that would make even less sense imo. remember, FA is recruiting and there are a lot of newcomers now. not everybody has the same level of experience when it comes to these things. everywhere is different. i'm just trying to get a feel around here. Well look at the question the person asks in the beginning. Look at the responses given. Was the questioned answered? Is there really anything to add? Is that person even active on the forums anymore? If you had the same question and it is not answered in the topic, then just start a new one instead of reviving one that is old. In this case the person is asking how much you are paying for internet costs. I don't think it added to the topic by posting what you pay, considering how many people already. Of course anyone here that is new is going to have to learn and it is fine if you make mistakes (I've made a lot on here as well). Krayzie had already replied on the topic asking people not to revive a 1 year old topic, if you had questions about that why not message him on xfire first before replying on the same topic? Talking about what is or isn't a dead topic on a dead topic doesn't make sense either
putts
Talking about what is or isn't a dead topic on a dead topic doesn't make sense either That's why I wasn't going to try to argue or continue in there. I figured I'd throw out a few suggestions or get some sort of clarification. Could maybe somebody say in the first place... "Please do not respond to posts more than 3 months old. Thank you." Instead of the 'c'mon man..' 'this is dead' Just something to think about. Thanks.

I like the idea of making it clearer in the rules, but then again it is situation. I'll be clearer next time
