F257 Posted January 26, 2009 Share Posted January 26, 2009 depends on map for me. tbh don't like it as people use it dj and tj in order to rush maps. but sometimes its neccesary - e.g. in baserace in order to make carrying parts easier and quicker (since you move faster and are therfore less likley to be shot alonmg the way) but on the whole, no. Connection Posted January 28, 2009 Share Posted January 28, 2009 ??? are you saying you can't jump onto the grassy area in front of the bank at goldrush? im confused. wait - you mean you wish you could jump to the first landing of the stairs when you spawn axis at their spawn near the bank - ok. well, you can jump to the wall at the bottom of the stairs on default settings - its only as high as a typical wooden crate object - but if you don't have stable FPS you can't. am assuming you know about the "magic numbers" glitch? so i guess you just want to get around the map faster. i get mowed down by allied camping those stairs a lot so i am not sure how great it would be to stick my face up there faster personally but if you could jump that high, you'd open up a lot of new tj-to-objective opportunities and make a bunch of jumps that are hard to do accessible to novices. i dont mind map rushing 'coz it takes skill to do but if any ETPlayer can hop the oasis wall or sneak into the fueldump it's a different game. defending team would seriously have to fall back to win, not just watch out for one or two bouncy players that might be able to pull something off. now some maps it wouldn't really matter - like goldrush - because it's all about the tank, on the ground, or inside the bank - not getting over some wall to get to something and blow it up or steal it. you would be able to move around the map faster, but hey if you're going down that road i'd rather just have low gravity instead. am wont to admit it but i use low pitch mouse and it's frustrating as poo trying to bring my gun to bear on some moron bouncing around 15 ft in the air.. =p i still say it's dumb, and only belongs on dumb oversized maps where it doesn't lead to winning the game without deserving to win the game. servers with "no map rushing" or "no double jump to objective" rules that run maps like fuel dump with double jump are hilarious IMO. idc what anyone's server rules are, because a server like that i probably won't go back to -- i go straight to the objective and end game as quickly as possible. that's what i feel those sort of settings deserve, so that's what they get. quick meaningless games.
