Severe problems with my internet

Alright, so as a few of you may know, my computer does not like to connect to my home internet router correctly. Here's a list of the main things it is affecting:

  • I am completely unable to access the internet through my router when I do not have a static IP set (I will list the IP settings I have later)
  • No matter what router I am on, LAN does not work at all, under my adapter settings it always claims that it is "unplugged". (even when other people can use LAN on the router fine) (yes, it is enabled, I have checked).
  • when I type ipconfig/all, ethernet adapter local area connection comes up as "media disconnected", when according to some other places I have checked, it should not.
  • When I do not have static IP settings applied, no default gateway or subnet mask appear under wireless lan adapter wireless network connection.
  • I get massive lag spikes where my ping in any game shoots up to 999 then slowly goes back down to wherever I was (usually around 50).
  • Without a static IP, my internet claims it connects to my router "without internet access", and calls it an "unidentified network".

I'm not sure exactly what else there is to list, but hopefully someone should be able to guide me through some more for more specific information. Karma tried to help me earlier, and suggested a clean install of windows 7 (as this problem arose when I upgraded my laptop from windows vista to windows 7). I performed the clean install, set everything up, and boom, nothing is fixed. What I really don't understand is that I can connect to every other router I have tried perfectly, even the one at my school. Maybe it has something to do with my router rather than my computer, but that does not explain why LAN does not work at all on my laptop. (unfortunately, I cannot change ANYTHING on my router because my stepdad owns it, so I'm screwed if that's the only way to fix the problem.)

Below this is what I get when I type ipconfig/all into my cmd prompt.

Also, on a side note unrelated to the topic, my keyboard is glitching very badly. Since I updated to windows 7, my computer will randomly act as if I'm holding ctrl while I'm typing even when I'm not, making typing very difficult. It ends up deleting/merging text, moving the cursor, shutting down the computer, closing windows, etc.

Any help?

try running the following from the command prompt:

netsh int ip reset reset.txt

netsh winsock reset

also, is the dhcp client running from services.msc?

First I would try connecting the computer directly to the modem IE: Before the router. that's to eliminate your computer as the problem.

Also did you run the upgrade to win 7 checker? or did your comp. come with win 7?

okay just a fyi the problem is that your pc is not win 7 compatible the wdm driver is failing .... keyboard glitches tell you that your mobo is having a irq issue which leads me to believe that it is not win 7 ready you can probably fix the irq issue by using a usb network card

I'm not sure if I am able to connect it directly, especially since it's in my stepdad's office... and he's evil about going in there. Anyway, It came witdows vista, and I upgraded it to windows 7. One thing I recently noticed is that on the sticker of my processor, it says "AMD Athlon X2 64" saying that my computer is 64 bit, but it came with 32 bit Vista, and I upgraded it to 32 bit Windows 7, could that be causing problems?

that should be okay. what computer do you have exactly? I have a home theater PC with the Brisbane version of the processor you speak of. I am sure that can run Win7.

Here's something I found about my laptop...

http://www.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-l505d-s5965/4505-3121_7-33695859.html

Apparantly it's the Toshiba Satellite L505d... Not a good computer by any means.

Googling the laptop description from your link with Windows 7 added got this page:

http://forums.toshib...ess/td-p/106751

Which mentions the Toshiba Win 7 Installer and a download link, so maybe installing Win7 to your device is a little more complicated than one might think...

Its not clear for me why your windows have these tunneled adapters. Are you doing some VPNs or doing your PC to act as a wifi router recently? If not, maybe..just guessing, try to disable them and see if it would lead you somewhere...basic thought, could be drivers too.

i bought a base model toshiba (satellite a130 iirc) in early 2007. i needed a laptop for work in a pinch and it was the cheapest laptop best buy sold. Came with vista home basic, 512mb ram, 60gb hdd, and dual core processor. i did upgrade the ram to its max of 2gb but i ran win7 pro 32 bit with no problems at all. with your computer being several years newer, I would have to believe this would be able to run win7.

If this works, do you know how many cakes you are going to get? XD

EDIT:

It has not seemed to make any difference whatsoever, actually, my computer feels like it's running a bit slower than it was before I ran that application. My internet still gets the same thing without my Static IP...

One odd thing is that I was completely unable to connect to the internet on my laptop even WITH the static IP until I disable IPv6 under my adapter's settings...
