Midnight
Is it possible to create a link to the unban and application sections? Something that would allow the individual to click on the link, and much like a job application, have the areas we need them to fill out already prepped? Thus they would not be able to submit the application until all the appropriate information is filled out. I ask because I have seen applications started in the wrong section (I for one did it before I officialy applied) and then other members, leaders, etc. have to redirect with links or post the proper guidelines etc. I know its not hard work or cumbersome by any means, but it certaily is more fluid and allows members and those above, more time voting on the app. or reviewing the demos then posting useless info that has already been posted previous to their post. Therefore the unban request and application process is kept clean. Also I believe that having this process, would also allow only members and trial to vote and review, and keep unwanted comments from other users or the unban request individual/applicant from spamming their post. Also I would like to ask that individuals applying or aksing for an unban, put their name in the topic. When I am going through archives looking for something or looking at current unbans/applicants there are too many that are inapproriately titled or there is more than one titled the same (i.e "I want to apply to F|A", "F|A Member? ", "Wrongful Ban", etc.) If people put the name that they were banned under/applying under this would make it much easier than search or scrolling thorugh topics. Yes, from the forum perspective you can see "post started by Midnight on August 23, 2012" under the topic, but I view the forums alot from a mobile device and this doesn't show. If confused or have questions, please ask. I currently had a brain fart and now can't think. Thank you, Midnight
slenderman
I was thinking of having an upper tab where it says Forums/Calender/Store and those other stuff for applications, would be easier to navigate to because it would be one of the first things you notice in the forums, you would have to go through rules and regulations that specify servers and forums before the application would show up pre-made just to fill out. I like this idea too, if its less work + cheaper though.
rolf
Most people don't know how to start a topic, read the "read first", scan the forum for where to place the topic, don't put everything in caps, etc. In my opinion, that says so much about that person that I don't want to give all that knowledge I could have away for free. And yes Midnight, you came out fine, but that is not default Anyway, creating a form for applications might be too much work (such that it is posted under the name of the applicant), it will most likely not be in the default ip.board package, although there might be a add-on for it. I guess Dare can look that up if he wants to, no idea how ip.board manages that stuff. Otherwise, in the upper bar (with website, forums, calendar, etc) can add links to where to apply/appeal, but trust me, they can find that on the forum self as well and it still doesn't mean that everyone will read the sticky's first. Midnight
Because someone misses the forum rules or a tutorial on how to apply, should not be a judge of character. I meant this as a way to limit useless spam on unban requests and applications as well as make it easier for someone who is new to the forum to navigate. The only reason I came to the forum when I started was because I wanted to apply, and I can guarantee that there are a majority of trials and members who do the same. You can have at the end of the application or a check box that has to be checked prior to submitting that says the individual read the rules and such. Now this does not guarantee that that individual read the rules, but this will be evident in the future. I just want to make the gaming and forum experience easy and clean for all of us and help the process become a tad bit faster for those who apply or ask for unbans. However, I really appreciate the opinions and hope that more individuals will comment on it as well.
Administrators daredevil Posted August 23, 2012 Administrators Share Posted August 23, 2012 I had purchased add-on for "Application" a while back before for 20$. End result? We never where able to use it and 20$ wasted from all time low funds. I tend to prefer purchase less addons since most of the time this authors abondon their addons with us loosing the money. Well I am realtively new to websites and HTMLing, but I wouldn't mind looking into this. Do you have the name of the company that you paid for the Application? That will give me a start point and I can go from there. And why were you not able to use it?
rolf
I guess it won't be (a lot of) HTML, but PHP. Although a very very long time ago, I made a way to create/fill a form to post the output on a phpbb-forum, but I don't have the source of it anymore. Yet that approach should be adaptable to a usage for here. If for some reason you can use some help on that midnight, give me a message. Haven't programmed for too long in PHP though, but that isn't that hard
Administrators daredevil Posted September 5, 2012 Administrators Share Posted September 5, 2012 Okay. Well I am realtively new to websites and HTMLing, but I wouldn't mind looking into this. Do you have the name of the company that you paid for the Application? That will give me a start point and I can go from there. And why were you not able to use it? I wasn't able to use it because application wasn't updated and it was buggy as hell and coder never fixed the issue. Each application on our board needs to get updated when IPB releases update. Some might work and some might not on new releases. It depends on what changes IPB makes. I purchased the application from IPS market place.

docwarren
Maybe you HTML guys can answer this..... About 20 years ago, I designed a MS Access program that was customized for my specific job's need. Is there a way to take something like this... put it on the forums under a tab and have it generate a forum topic once completed by the user? ajnl
Can't be too hard to make a form using php. Though I haven't used php in a while either. Maybe you HTML guys can answer this..... About 20 years ago, I designed a MS Access program that was customized for my specific job's need. Is there a way to take something like this... put it on the forums under a tab and have it generate a forum topic once completed by the user? I think that is what we would use php for. I just don't have the source of it anymore.
