Cannibal Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Hey all. I just recently got my admin level back after a long absence serving with the Air Force. It looks like procedures have changed while I was away. Before I start banning people I'd like to do it right. 1) What program do I need to record demos of cheaters and where do I get it? 2) Where do I submit the cheater report? I appologize for asking here instead of searching the forums for the answer. I play C0D4, hence the post here. This webiste is all screwy on my computer and it's very difficult to navigate. All the content is squished onto the right side, so narrow that some longer words take up 3 or 4 lines. This post might be more appropriate in the tech support section, if it is please move it. Quote
SinfulRaevyn Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Press the tilde key --> ~ THen type /record (demoname). When you want to stop recording, type /stoprecord Once you have a demo, use winrar to zip the file. Right click demo, add to archive, then choose zip. Once that's done you can make a report in our private area. Quote

Midnight Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Is winrar and application that we have to download? Also do we need to type the demoname in parentheses? Quote
SinfulRaevyn Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Is winrar and application that we have to download? Also do we need to type the demoname in parentheses? In my opinion, eeeeeveryone should have Winrar! Great program for archiving and unzipping content. It's a permanent 'trial', so you don't have to buy anything. And no! Example: /record stupid would just label the file name 'stupid'. Makes it easier than having all these demos labeled 01,02,03,04, etc. Edited June 8, 2012 by Lady*Raevyn* Quote
Midnight Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Okay, so when I get home from work I will download winrar. What was that thing you sent me the other night through xfire? It was a link to view the demos. Great title for demo. Hope you weren't thinking of me when you wrote it. Quote
Krayzie Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Also you ccan just right click, press send to, and theres a button to zip the file. Don't have to ddownload winrar bllleeeck. 1 Quote
SinfulRaevyn Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Haha no wai. Totally thinking of those bastard hackers. > GAWDIHATETHEMSOMUCH. ANd oh! That was the CoD 4 player. All you have to do is double click on a demo, and open it with the CoD4 player. It'll automatically open the game and play the demo for you. ^.^ If you need the link again, I can get it later. Quote
Midnight Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Thank you Joker. I will download one or the other tonight when I get home. Quote
Cannibal Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 I just can't find the demo file in my hard drive. What am I doing wrong here? Quote
SinfulRaevyn Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Are you using Steam for playing CoD4? If so, you'll find demos here: C://Program files (x86 if win 7 user)/steam/steamapps/common/call of duty 4/main/demos Quote
ajnl Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 (edited) I just can't find the demo file in my hard drive. What am I doing wrong here? I have the same problem, the demo folder does not show up when I look for it under here: C://Program files (x86 if win 7 user)/steam/steamapps/common/call of duty 4/main/demos What you have to do is go to My Computer and click on your main hard drive where cod4 is installed on. Then click on the search bar (top right) and type in "demo". It should find the demo folder. Or type in the name of the demo with .dm after it: ex. nameofdemo.dm If you still can not find it, try enabling the hidden folder viewing in your control panel. Edited June 9, 2012 by ajnl Quote
Cannibal Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 I don't play this game with Steam. ajnl, I followed all the steps you gave. Nothing. I have it set to show hidden folders and no amount of searches return anything CoD related. I downloaded the CoD4 demo player that Joker posted. When I use it I can actualy see the demo file. It has a small padlock on the icon. The C0D4 demo player claims that the demo is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos. When I go there manualy through my hard drive the demo folder does not exist (I have show hidden on). If I click on the file in the demo player it actualy plays my demo (progress!). Now I can't figure out how to post it on the forums. If I try to move the file I get an error saying the file isn't there. Quote
