BoomStick Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 (edited) I was staring out my window, when I happened to see this person. He had climbed the to the top of the mast of this boat and there he swayed, trying to tie some form of rope. Very, very brave man. Sometimes when the weather is nice, I like to sit down by the water and watch the swans move to and fro. Edited April 12, 2012 by Panzer-WT? Quote
Panini*Hobbit@mp3 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I must go to Galway again sometime.. The first pic looks a lot like Cork 1 Quote
BoomStick Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 I love walking through my city sometimes - you can never be sure about what you'll see next. Whether it be some guy dressed as a wizard doing card tricks, Or buskers playing guitars, standing up on podiums Or two people juggling, with someone standing in the middle playing the accordion. The fact she is wearing a crash helmet always has me laughing. 1 Quote
BunnyBabe Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Wow, I really like those pictures. Nice, rustic bridge and harbour is also cool. I enjoy feeding some ducks who're living nearby in a huge pack, but swans are a bit more impressive. (sorry ducks, you're cute too..) Quote
BoomStick Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) The bridge is called Wolfe Tone bridge and is names after someone who led a rebellion against the English in 1798. It failed pretty miserably and he was executed as a traitor. One side is quite rustic but the other side is more modern, after it underwent renovations a few years ago to attach a separate walking bridge; it looks nice, at night these blue lights come on, reflecting against the Corrib River, that eventually flows into Galway bay. The swans are one of the landmarks of the city - they can usually be seen floating in their dozens down in the area known as the Claddagh, where the world-famous Claddagh Ring originated. Admittedly, you asked bout none of this, but I'm generally an encyclopedia of useless information. Also, thank you for your compliment. I appreciate it. Just before the Christmas, I encountered this chap while walking up towards town; there he was, in the middle of the place, with a dog and donkey-and-cart, sitting down and playing the tin whistle for seemingly no reason other than doing it just for the sake of it. He wasn't collecting money as far as I could tell and would even let the kids have a ride around on the back of the donkey. Last summer, before I went on a quick tour around Spain, I came across this group; they were all dressed up in pirate clothes and singing pirate shanties. They were incredibly enjoyable and hope they make a return this summer. One day when I was sitting at my family home, I happened to glance out the window and see this rainbow. Then did I realize that I was looking at what seemed to be the end of it! I went out, but alas no pot of gold. Edited April 17, 2012 by Panzer-WT? Quote
BunnyBabe Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Well that was very interesting, I think I've read something about the Irish Rebellion for a long time ago. You've taken pretty pictures of life in the streets of Scotland. The atmosphere in the streets seem to be kinda laid-back - which is great in my opinion. So much to observe. =) I'm jealous to that guy with the donkey - because of his donkey! Quote
BoomStick Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 I'm actually in Ireland and not Scotland But yeah, it was a pretty awesome donkey. I wanted to see if he'd let me ride it, but he wouldn't. Young kids only. Pah! Damn kids, they get all the fun. Quote
BunnyBabe Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Damn, I remembered you're from Scotland.. Should've checked it from your profile.. Quote
BoomStick Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 I went for a walk yesterday, while the weather was nice, which is rare 1 Quote
ladykris Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Why is it so beautiful where you are? Seems like all I see around me is houses and skyscrapers. Quote
BoomStick Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 @ LadyKris - I often realize how lucky I am to live in such a wonderful city. Alas I also realize that if I want to get ahead in life, I need to move on. Its funny; it's become a thing now, for buskers to stand up on those bollards playing music - yesterday I watched someone play a guitar, someone else play a banjo and a third person play the fiddle and singing "Dirty Old Town".
