r_finish 1 feels like mouseaccel if I turn it on (was turned on for a while, better without that)...

I changed rate on last week from 25k to 80k, so rate is not the problem.

I have eset smart security, can you recommend a better antivir?

TDSSKiller, Gmer, Malwarebytes Anti-malware. Just run them once to look if there is some nasty stuff running.

I don't know, I use Linux and I have no antivirus, but I would suggest you this:

play always with /cg_drawfps 1 and /cg_lagometer 1

if you see your fps is high all the time, then it's not a cpu/antivirus/etc problem but a network one. anything using your cpu should cause a visible slowdown in fps, even if for an instant

if fps is ok but lagometer shows lag, then it's a network problem (or some other software downloading). Lag doesn't affect your fps

Ahm, the fps drops are very rare, so I don't think it's caused by a virus. There are no lags, sometimes very short yellow spikes, but nothing more. The ping is stable 50.

So I think it's not a performance problem, it's misconfiguration, or hardware error. I'll get a camera asap, and make a short video...

do an ingame demo also - so if I can't see the lag in the demo then it suggests it's your hardware

try it with your antivirus disabled just to make sure that the lag is still there.

a stable ping suggests it's not a network problem - but you should do a traceroute anyways to make sure.

are your graphics card drivers and windows drivers up to date?

I got some prob of lags me too there's some days.. Updating drivers,etc,etc.. Nothing worked until I notice that the firewall of my antivirus Bitdefender was enabled and running at same time with my Comodo firewall.. So you could also check if you're not running 2 firewall (the one of Microsoft and your antivirus).. Also, be sure that your firewall has rules for ET, Punkbuster A and B.. Or simply turn it off/turn it on the game mode if there's one, when you play..

edit: to turn off the microsoft firewall--> Task manager/services/and there, find/disable the service for the firewall..

edit2: you can found Punkbuster A and B for the rules of firewall in the folder Windows/SysWOW64/and there, PnkBstrA(.exe), PnkBstrB(.exe)

I once tried GameBooster software to disable unnecessary windows services during "gaming mode", and it works fine. Maybe that can fix this issue for you on top of what Annibal had added on disabling antivirus, maybe the problem is really as simple as that.

At this point, if you don't lag and you don't have fps lags, then it's some kind of driver or weird hardware (configuration?) problem.

Recording a demo is often useful, but only to check if you had lags, because a demo is just a recording of the incoming data stream from the server to your pc.

A real video would be more useful to understand what actually happens, in this particular case. Because I am not sure if I really understood what kind of delay you have, you say you hear sounds before you see things happening?

That makes me think of some driver problem because when the game renders a frame it plays also all the sounds (for example, you will see a weapon flash, and hear the sound of the weapon) lag alone (whether it is fps lag or network lag) can never cause a delay between what you see and what you hear.

Could a poor amount of memory allocated for sounds cause those problems?? (/com_soundmegs not present in his cfg)

in my cfg: /com_recommended is on 1 (on 3 in yours),  /com_recommendedset on 0 (on 1 in yours)

/net_noipx on 0 (on 1 in yours)

I don't know, but I had another idea: if he can replay a demo he or someone else recorded, and the demo has weird problems as well, then he can rule out any network issues, because the demo was already recorded and it cannot lag

I would try a fresh config with default cvars, but save you the one you have now . just to test it

if its a network lag try to  Power cycle your modem

Tried them out, found nothing.

Yepp, the drivers are up to date. I'll make an uninstall, driver sweeper, reinstall, but have many icons on desktop, and hate to rearrange them :S

I'll make a short video of the real time game, and of the demo and compare them.

The antivirus switches to gamer mode when I start ET, so I don't think it's the antivirus. I already turned off the windows firewall, because it sux.

I made a traceroute, but I dont know how to find the problems with that...

Win firewall already turned off for ages. The display lag occures on tzac servers too, so applying any changes on the punkbuster services won't help.

Btw. I'll give it a try.

I already power cycled it 1000000 times without any success. I moved it to another place recently, because I used wifi, and lagged a lot. Now with cable I only have this display lag.

Thanks, I'll try it out.

seta com_soundMegs "64"

I don't know what are the others, I never modified them.

I don't think I have this kind of problems on demo. Btw. on demo it seems to happen everything faster than in game. I hope I'm not hallucinating, and the display lag is really there :D
