I just got a temporary PC, Which im going to be using for a while, I've inserted the CoD4 CD, but nothing pops up, it just lays there spinning.

Are there any ideas to solve this solution?

Might sound silly but have you checked in My Computer to see if the disc is recognised in the drive there? Some people disable autorun (the pop-up thing when you put a disc in) as a security thing.

I did that already but nothing pops up.

As chuckun says , it may have autorun disabled . Did you try not just double clicking on it but opening the disc , right click then explore(I think it is how it is called in English windows OS) and run setup.exe manually

You put the CD in, and you hear it spinning but the computer says there is nothing in the cd drive?

1: Open "my computer"

2 is the cd detected?

3: if it is not detected then it must be the cd or the hardware the problem.

4: if it is detected , right click on the CD icon in my computer (probably D: or E: drive

5: hit "explore"

6: it should opens what the cd contains so manually launch the setup , should be setup.exe or cod4.exe something like that

Btw what OS? Xp , vista or windows7 . Are orher CDs working?

If still you cant see the data inside the CD, try cleaning the CD with soft spot of cotton with alcohol and let it dry for a few minutes, then re-insert it back, see if that helps.

Is the disc a DVD and the drive you're putting it in only a CD drive?

Just a thought.

Its a game, making it a CD.

nope games can be stored on a dvd ^^

(dvd = Digital Versatile Disc)

also: try to clean your disc with a bit toothpaste (or other cleaner)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare appears to only have been released on DVD format.

Try putting in a regular DVD movie that you know works into this PC and see if it plays the movie.

Also, when you open My Computer and look at the disc drive with nothing in it, it should say what kind of drive it is.

Like, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, or something similar.

You just can copy/paste all the files of the DVD/CD of CoD4 and copy it to an external USB, i have to do it in that way since my computer don't want to recognize DVDs also.. (CoD4 multiplayer work in that way, singleplayer needs the CD)
