KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City police said the GameStop store on Englewood Road in Gladstone is where one crime started and ended.

Early Tuesday morning, about 250 people were lined up waiting for the release of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.” One man, however, decided he couldn’t wait.

As an avid gamer, Adam Freeman has gone to combat on the TV screen plenty of times. But early Tuesday morning, it was for real.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever had any kind of weapon pointed at me,” said Freeman.

Freeman had just picked up his copy of the new video game at GameStop. He arrived back to his Kansas City apartment around 1 a.m. when a Ford Explorer pulled up behind Freeman, boxing him in.

“Guy jumped out at me with a 40-caliber pistol,” said Freeman.

But the man, identified by police as 18-year-old David Morales, wasn’t looking for money. Freeman said Morales just wanted the game. Freeman refused to give it up, even after he said Morales loaded the gun with two rounds.

“I struggled with him for about 20 seconds or so, trying to get the gun out of his hand,” said Freeman.

Finally, Freeman said Morales sped off without the game, which is valued at $60.

Usually a mild-mannered guy, Freeman said he doesn’t know why he did what he did.

“Self defense, I guess. I really don’t know. I didn’t think about it. It just, just happened,” he said.

Freeman ran inside his apartment and called 911.

Officers caught up with Morales later on Tuesday, at the exact same GameStop where it all began. Police said Morales was trying to buy the game when he was arrested.

Morales is being held on $50,000 bond at the Platte County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action. If convicted, Morales could spend up to 18 years in prison.

Well live here in KC and we are known for our crime and recently a teenager attempted to rob a man at gun point for his copy of COD MW3.

Gun = 5 yrs?

Robbery = 13 yrs?

The guy even followed him back to the apartment to rob him there.

18 years in a prison for a $60 game.

Only here in KC..sadly

This stuff happens every day here but this one did have me laughing, lol

We've had our share of robbery's and they are a serious matter but it is hard to not give a chuckle at this one reason I shared. Sadly we are one of the top city's for crime and it's normally not a laughing matter but this was kinda out there, lol

Notice he even went back to same store to attempt another robbery for this $60 game resulting in his capture.

This is just sad. Are we this dependent on video games?

About a month ago a guy robbed a gas station and only took a carton of cigs and a tank of gas drive off. Took no money yet did same time if he would have. Robberys are common so would not say it was the dependence on video games. He just wanted it at all cost. A lot of people here take what they want, lol

I had to laugh at this.. I mean seriously, what are some people thinking with robbing a person for the sake of a 60 dollar game. Absolute idiot!

edit: Didn't see the last post.. Kinda sad when you think about the amount of robberies in KC as you said. Oh well, at least they got what they deserved at the end of the day!

He can't be serious, first of all he's trying to rob a man while being armed and when it went wrong he went back to the store to buy it? Actually I'd love to know where he get the gun from because I guess that thing including shots would have cost him more than 60 bucks though.

Hope he'll enjoy his time behind solid prison bars...

That's insane. You can earn enough money to buy the game in 8 hours works at most jobs nowadays...

And for the lower paying jobs, in 2 days, you can have your game. People are retards.

Legal fire arm dealers = yes

I could get $90 in our Pawn for a .40

^ legal is keyword though, background checks, id, permits, etc

People who buy legal firearms are never a problem as S/N are checked, etc

Sadly on the street you could get one for under $20 I'm guessing.

Our problem is a over supply of illegal and untraceable firearms.

These repeat felons have no jobs, most are dealers or steal for a living, some are bangers as well but usually don't commit these simple crimes.

Average robber has no intentions of ever using his/her gun and are easy to fight off.

Yeah, well I'm pretty sure he would not have bought it.

Ofc he would tell them that.

Would you admit to planning a second robbery or theft? lol

Same location an police where on key so in my opinion he would have made another lame attempt. Possibly to grab the game and run.

I'm not familiar with gun prizes out of Germany so I couldn't tell what the price would be. But is buying a gun in a pawn really a legal thing? Though I'd thought getting a gun on the streets would be much more expensive...

Well, according to his behaviour acting like a total moron I have no doubt he's that smart to went into the store to actually by it after the robbery went wrong.^^
