i think you need to do those from the command line, or do a /net_restart after you change them, I never tried those commands myself..

check this (it's quake3 but it should be similar):

(from that link:)

[cut]So I guess the engine is using an outdated socks5 implementation.[cut]

I don't think you need to use that.. check if your firewall allows it.. TCP proxy doesn't work in ET :P

I am not a networks expert, just trying to help, so sorry if I say some bs... :)

Anyway, isn't there any software that could act as proxy between et and the actual proxy? maybe if et uses some old protocol, then you could connect to such software, and then from there to the real proxy if et itself can't handle it? I don't know if those commands actually work, I think testing them with a proxy of your own, so you can check logs/errors could help, like that guy did in the thread I sent you...

And what's more there is punkbuster... I don't know about that, but it needs also to connect to the internet... :hmm

Maybe you need some software to redirect all traffic through the proxy, but I don't know if it can work with udp packets.

I got only the Proxy IP and one Port from the Admins for Internet, so i must bundle the whole traffic on that Port, but i still don´t know how.

IE, Skype, Mediaplayer and such things are no problem.

About STEAM or ET i see no way.

My FW is not a problem, its open for Steam/ET, I also tried it with disabled FW.

Did you tried to change your client port? Try to add in your game command line:

+set net_port xxxx

Port which you want to use and start ET. See if it works.

There should be something, like a software called sockscap or any other 'proxifier', now my biggest concern about it would be punkbuster... I don't know how it would react if you run et through another software... :hmm

maybe sockscap is old but by googling this or 'proxifier' maybe you can find others

again i say: I haven't tested any of these, use at your own risk :)

Use proxifier I used it before and had no issues pb works fine with it.

proxifier installed. stuff like xfire, steam is working now.

Games not.

But it´s ok, i guess i will wait the last 7 weeks.

will spend some evenings on watching movies, and beer :cheers

Thanks for your help.

I have a similar problem but only with some servers. I can get right on one of the FA servers but others just kick me back to the menu.

No one ever relied to this, but I did find one problem.

When I installed this on the new computer (Windows 7) it does not automatically load the mods (my old computer does). If I go into MODS and manually load them ET connects perfectly fine.
