This is just for fun but I thought it would be interesting to see everyones opinion on how they would set up a server if they could. If you could have your own server and set it up, how would you? In other words what is "your perfect server"? And if you don't feel like creating your own, what is your favorite F|A server?

 

Include what you want but here are some suggestions to think about for settings.

 

Mod type: jaymod, etpub, etpro etc.

slot size: how many public and private slots for a server

Friendly fire: on or off

xp save or not: do your keep your xp at all and for how long? (total or number of days)

weapon limitations: restricted weapons to a certain number such as panzers etc.

class limitations: remove special skills (adren), limit number of people that can be a certain class, and so on.

coefficient adjustments: bullet damage, explosive damage, knife damage, fall off damage by range, etc.

map selection: what maps would be in your pool

Rules: Is spawnkill allowed? Are you allowed to kill out in combat? No cussing? those kinds of things

 

Theres more than just this to make a server so just add them into your post. After doing this I'm sure people will see how much goes into creating a server and how hard it is to balance. Because one thing I've realized is when it comes down to it, you have to select one thing or another and not everyone will be happy but you have to appeal to the greater good. Personally I hope there is a wide range in responses, as it would be interesting to see what people prefer.

12 slot private euro etpro server with competition settings (-->FF on, no adren, no xp save, etc)

My pub server would be:

 

-et pub

-20 public slots + 2 private

-ff on with team damage limits

-xp save (same as F|A hardcore limits)

-all default weapons available,

-heavies limited to one type per team

-set panzers to 15, reduce damage by 50-60%, decrease charge needed to shoot by 50%. So more shots required to kill but can shoot more shots in a time span along with extra ammo. Quake like rocket launcher.

-MG would have fall off damage by range

-sten would be able to shoot 40% more shots before overheat.

-No poison knife, Normal knife damage, 18 frontal body, 50 backstab, 100 damage for backstab assasin (cov lvl4), allow throwing knifes @ f|a hardcore speed of fire, add a knife hit slow causing affected to be slowed by 20%

-no adren

-no double jump

-Limit Fop arty/airstrike per minute.

-Killouts in battle reward kills to person that last hit.

-Fall to death, and map damage such as barb wire do not count as deaths.

-maps would include: Radar, Goldrush Te, Oasis SW, Supply, Adlernest, Braundorf, Bremen, Railgun, Ice, Beach, TC base, UFO, Karsiah, caen, venice te (w/ flag spawn for allies), Reactor.

-Voting for maps after game ends (most votes wins, tie breakers go to map played longest ago)

-spawnkill allowed

-cussing tolerated

-respect admins and other players

-No spam or IP dropping

 

I'm probably missing something but so far this would be my dream pub. I feel as though these settings would require skill to achieve kills, but wouldn't be too demanding for the average player to achieve while not offering overpowering options for anyone. Each class will have their strengths but should not be too strong in areas. Via requiring panzer to have more skill required to gain kills instead of any nub being able to kill with it, even against the best of players, every other gun in game requires this, so it should too. Classes should be strong in the following areas; medics be strong hp wise, engies in damage reduction, fops in offensive, covies in stealth and range, heavies in utility and situational. Knifes should not be instant kills, instead slowing the enemy to where they cant get away would make knifing fun as you would be able to run but require more hits, this also gives shooters time to combat instead of insta lag deaths.

class limitations: Unlimited Each class, Adren on

coefficient adjustments: Normal for all

map selection: Oasis, Fuel dump, Brenem, Minas, Castle attack, Marrakech, Venice, Goldrush and Purefrag

Rules: Sk is allowed except for mortar and arty, Swearing changed to ****, no hacking cheating (Obviously)

 

I think F|A 2 is a perfect server to me but its bad that i have random lags on it.

Friendly fire:I would love when you could put it on or off with some command

weapon limitations:1 of every heavy weapon

class limitations:no adre and there is no limit for classes

coefficient adjustments:i would like the same as HC server

map selection:again would like it when it would be like in HC or silent server,lots of different maps and people can choose,so there wont be any certain cycle.

Rules:don,t really give a S about SK,but what would be not allow is kill yourself in the middle of fight or make suicide after you got poisoned etc.

xp save or not: xp forever

weapon limitations: no heavy weapons

class limitations: no adrenub

coefficient adjustments: less damages from nades/rifle-nades, 5 arty/airstrikes per minute available

map selection: a 40 custom maps rotation, +goldrush, fueldump, radar without oasis, battery and railgun. Probably with a map-votin mod.

Rules: same rules as F|A

 

This is just a server where i would enjoy the most. Anyway, you can't satisfy 100% ppl

before my clan died, I had made all the configs for our public etpro server (which is not online anymore), so it was more or less how I liked it:

 

  • mod: etpro
  • slots: 16+some private slots
  • map pool: at first I made a custom lua with a dynamic campaign, based on player number on the server. So the map cycle was automatic, but maps were chosen according to player number (small or big maps). All were 'competition' or duel/ctf maps. Later, I made a lua for custom map vote, but limited to some maps, so players could choose the map they wanted.
  • gametype: stopwatch (disabled for some maps, with a custom lua mod), headshots only, or headshots instagib votable, for some fun/training. All together with a modified kmod for admin levels, killer's hp, etc.
  • config: based on clanbase 6on6, with some slight differences.
  • game speed, shooting speed, you name it: all standard ET!
  • xp: *totally* disabled (no xpsave + no levels gain), so no akimbos, no adre, no fast reload or arty spamming, etc. etc.
  • ff: (of course) on
  • rules: selfkill in fight and spawnkill allowed, votes allowed (but no votekick for admins), play for objective or frags

Anyway I also like playing in totally different servers (otherwise I won't play in f|a servers :D) the game is always fun. I just prefer standard settings (g_speed 320, normal rate of fire, no double jump and custom weapons) over modified ones,

Mod type: Etpub.

Slot size: 50-60

Friendly fire: Off.

Weapon limitations: No panzers, 1 person per heavy wep.

Class limitations: No adren, no double jump.

Coefficient adjustments: Reduce the overpowered rifle-nades damage, spawn at least 15 secs.

Map selection: A 30 map rotation. (All types)

Rules: Same rules as F|A plus no sk.

 

Something like " F|A Recruiting XP Save " but without double jump, bots and sk.

slot size: 16-18

Friendly fire: On for ETPro, Off for ETpub

xp save or not: Doesn't Matter

weapon limitations: No Flamethrower or Shotgun(Depending on the Mod)

class limitations: No Adrenaline

coefficient adjustments: More damage for nades and less for flamethrowers

map selection: SPDelivery, Supply, Goldrush, Frostbite, Adlernest, C2_Missle, Bremen, Radar, Braundorf, Karasiah

Rules: Similar rules to FA with some differences.

In my mind I have 2 ideal server sut ups depending on playing for fun and for more serious play.

 

Mod type: jaymod

slot size: 50+ some private slots

Friendly fire: off

xp save or not: xp save doesnt matter but I would like to see SL and TB rate disabled to encourage team play and try to eliminate team stacking

weapon limitations: 1 heavy weapon of each type per team. disable mortars

class limitations: adrenaline off

coefficient adjustments: decrease panzer damage but lower the charge time

map selection: siwa,golrush,fuel dump, minas, marrakesh for sure. Maps I hate 2 tanks breakout castle attack and et beach.

Rules: Yes to SK if you kill out credit goes to last guy who hit you.

 

Mod type: ETPRO

slot size: 30 Max

Friendly fire: on

xp save or not: Auto reset xp at 20,000

weapon limitations: No heavy weapons. Smg and Rifles only

class limitations: obviously no adrenaline

coefficient adjustments: Standard etpro damage

map selection: all scrim maps plus a couple of fanfavorites

Rules: yes SK

Map selection: Goldrush, Marrakech Streets, Venice NE4, Adlernest, Frostbite, School, Streets of Italy, V2 Base, Base Race, Special Delivery, Braundorf, Caen2, Snatch, TC Base, ET Ice, Bremen, X-Posed, Subway

Rules: Same rules as F|A

Xp save forever

weapon limitations: panzers 4 max per team

class limitations: 6 soldiers, 6 medics, 4 engy, 4 fd op, 4 cv ops max

coefficient adjustments: same as our jay1

map selection: Supply depot, Venice, Marrakech Streets, Minas Tirith, Fuel Dump, Bremen are staple maps, and then 20 other maps, chosen every month by the players that rotate in every month. With map-vote on.

Rules: Same rules as F|A but no /kill in fight.
