Joku_. Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Hey! I've been having lag spikes for some time now. Basically they last for couple seconds and they occur when ever there comes an announcement, for instance, tank has been repaired, tank is past the first barrier, cp has been destroyed, and so on. I've tried different rate/snaps/max packets rations plus settings but none seems to work. This problem never occurred when i was using my previous laptop. If someone has some idea what is the cause of this reason I would appreciate the feed back, thanks in advance. Yours sincerely Joku_. Quote
Antichrist Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I think rate is 45k packets 100 and snaps 20 is what most people use. What is your internet connection speed? PC specs? HDD? RAM? VGA? Quote
Joku_. Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 That is the ones i use to at the moment 42/100/20 and timenudge is 0 My internet connection speed is 100/10 And my laptop specs are: i5-460, Ati mobility radeon HD 5650 , 4Gb DDR3, 15.6 " 16:9 HD LCD Quote
Jaaa!& Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Is it just one particular server or all in general? Also what other programs might you have running at the time of play? Also, try pb_sleep 500 Quote
Joku_. Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 Its on all servers. And i got pb_sleep 500 already.. I have the exact same settings as I did on my old laptop and it never had this problem. I have already changed settings to prioritize ET and changed it for best performance instead of looks. And i only run avast and windows firewall while I play, nothing else. And I have set both to allow ET do what ever it pleases. Quote
Vanaraud Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Did you try to disable antivir? Like kill it on taskmanager. Quote
Joku_. Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 I have tried that too but it doesn't have any effect Quote
Dr. Kaoss Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I've been having the same problem. Screen freeze/spike whenever a major obj announcement sounds. Quote
Vanaraud Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Have you looked on console? Does it spam some error messages? Is it happening only in ET or in other games also? And lets try to rule out the ordinary: PB update and "runs as administrator" If you copied ET\settings from old laptop, maybe try default settings? with "rate is 45k packets 100 and snaps 20" \com_hunkmegs 128 or 192? Quote
Joku_. Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 (edited) I have looked at the console and it doesn't say anything. I only play ET and football manager 2010. In FM I have no problem, but I don't know whether you can really compare these games in this matter. And yes i run it as administrator, it wouldn't let me even connect to ET-servers if I wouldn't do it so. And I have tried also manual update on pb. And yea I have deleted everything and installed game and downloaded rest with joining the FA server doesn't make a difference. And I have tried with 45/100/20 with hunkmegs as 128/192/256/512 spikes are still the same. I have also tried with less rate more snaps and less maxpackets and the lag spikes are still there :/ Joku_. Edited March 26, 2011 by Kun Quote
Vanaraud Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Have you tried to run ET only at on one of the CPU cores? Right click on et.exe on taskmanage, choose "set affinity", uncheck CPU 0 and set CPU1 checked. Hope something helps. Quote

Administrators daredevil Posted March 27, 2011 Administrators Posted March 27, 2011 unplug your modem for 10 minutes then plug back in ... Bad advice. Give us this info: http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/442-how-to-recognize-your-lag/ Quote
Joku_. Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Lagometer shows, when i get the couple seconds spike. Or at least it looks like this to my eye as: Major Action with LPB Player. The bottom line is very small steady green and then there just comes huge red pillar in between. The green line is not effected anyways by it. Hopefully this made even some sense. Ping-statistics 74.63.64.44: Packets: Sent = 499, Received = 498, Lost = 1 (0% loss) Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 129 ms, Maximum = 147 ms, Average = 134 ms Control-C ^C Acer Aspire 5820TG 4 GB DDR3 Memory i5-460M (2,53GHz, 3MB L3 cache) Ati mobility Radeon HD 5650 15,6" 16:9 HD LCD 640 GB HDD (Seta) I use the university dormitory internet, which is quite fast 100/10. And it operates that every apartment house has it own server. Finland 2.6b Avast (free version) and windows firewall My internet speed was according to the test: Ping 30ms, Download speed 89.17Mbps, Upload speed 12.42Mbps And the last part (6) I have to admit my stupidity and say that I don't know how to use the program. What am I suppose to put on the host part of the program? Cheers in advance Edited March 27, 2011 by Kun Quote
Vanaraud Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Baout WinMTR, type some internet adress(www.google.com) and ofcourse see hows the connection to the FA server(s): jay1.clan-fa.com or etpub.clan-fa.com (I check those names from ET server itself, ESC->Server Info and ADRESS) Quote
