Kicked from recruitment server after map load - "Invalid userinfo" / User information is invalid

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue when trying to join the recruitment server. Right after the map finishes loading, I get disconnected/kicked immediately with an error message stating that my user information is invalid.

I'm playing on Windows. Has anyone encountered this "invalid userinfo" error before, and how can I fix it?

I am attaching a screenshot of the exact error message. Thanks in advance for any help!

@DyDragon I copied your original SS and trimmed it down to just the error statement, so that your GUIDs don't show in Public!   😄 

I then unhid the post.

 

His W:ET, S:ET, IP and name are the same on Silent#1 (where he CAN join) as on Beg#2, where the records showed that was "Last Seen:      2026-05-23 04:16:45 (Server Time)".  But he says that he did not fully connect to Beg#2 at that time (we were talking on Silent#1).

 

His W:ET is found on Jay#1, BUT his name shows as "UnanamedPlayer" with level 11, same IP and same W:ET as seen on Silent#1.   Seen there "Fri May 22 22:21",, which was around the time that we had talked.

 

I would suspect some kind of corruption in his installation.   

 

BTW, @Caipirinha says that she cannot join Jay#2!  Her tagged name was last recorded there some 600 days ago!  

 

I don't know if these two issues are related or not.  At least one other admin has said that they had trouble connecting to Beg#2.  😖

 

 

Actually, @DyDragon we sometimes see that warning in our consoles as we play on Jay#1, but we don't usually get kicked.  You could try to /reconnect when you see that again OR stop ET and restart it.  It might actually be a temporary problem.

I already updated eTlegacy but it's still the same. How do I reinstall everything without losing vital information?

Before messing with this game, always make sure you have a copy of your etkey and config. Those 2 files should always be backed up somewhere.

You may not need to backup anything. If you are wanting to just go back to 2.83.2 just download the installer and run it. It shouldn't mess with any of your configs or etkeys. 

 

To be safe though, you want any configs backed up. This includes ones in individual mod folders (etmain, etlegacy, jaymod, silentmod) 

 

You also want inside your etmain folder your etkey 

in your jaymod folder I'd suggest also saving the member config (can always re get from forums though) 

in silent folder you will also want to save your "silent.dat" file. 

 

So in short terms: 

main config(s)

member config

etkey

silent.dat

Aside all of this. Once a while this same error happens to me, sometimes a simple complete close of game and reconnect often resolves the issue. Never really had to do much else.

Aparte de todo esto, de vez en cuando me ocurre el mismo error. A veces, con solo cerrar el juego y volver a conectarme se soluciona. Nunca he tenido que hacer mucho más.

So, I'm going to do a clean install. I'll back up all the data you mentioned, but I'll leave out the recruitment server folder since that's the one causing the conflict. It's probably best to download that server's files from scratch, even if it means sacrificing some XP. Maybe this is a good excuse to start joining the beg2 server more often anyway!

I'll make my backup, reinstall, and let you guys know how it goes. :)"

"All sorted! I uninstalled my ET:L, did a fresh reinstall, and that did the trick. I was finally could to join. I join with the default 'ETPlayer' on first, but everything's working great now and I even got to play a couple of maps. Thank you so much to everyone for the help! I can see that you connected to beg#2 and to Jay1, where your name is NOT 'unnamedPlayer' anymore! 😄
