This looks like a typical April Fool's post. Cause it's no longer 1st of April, I don't know if Tipsy is serious or just messing with us 😅

Thats why u break server rules and go spec instead of be dead? Dont play the server than. 

General server rules point 28.

Evening champs,

 

I've been gone for quite a while, I pop by every now and then when I get time from work and family worries and decided to dish my two cents in as an old regular.

 

Personally I don't enjoy poison knives, but thats on me if I can't dodge the covert ops flying at me and throwing them, better luck next time.

 

So, how are the other jaymod servers doing which do not have poison knives on? How many active players? Is poison knives specifically a jaymod feature? What type are the players who wish to remove poison knives? The medics who go for fraggers and can't self heal? Or haven't figured out yet that you can get rid of poison by stepping in a teammates med pack (unless that has been changed recently).

 

Regardless of outcome, happy to see so many of you still active.

poison knifes  dont annoy me at all on jay1 ...its really nothing at all if your playing as a team . an i refuse to change it so i can throw it.i personally think that's dumb...but that's on me.id focus on other things on that server other than this .. but thats also just me.

I have discussed that point too,  including other suggestions. There is a technical reason for having bots on Jay1. Maybe a better version of bots can bring a middle ground on Jay1, where we hate them less.

That would be an another topic, another thread, but as a reminder, current bots.

 

- block a lot, esp. at door, blocking human but they do block each other a lot. I sometimes find clusters of 4-5 bots blocked at spawn.....

- their reaction time is so slow. I sometimes dont even bother fire at them, i pass them by. Not a great help for fire power....

- they don't follow orders. In Nitmod, they will follow the fireteam leader around but i am not sure about Jaymod.

- they can't snipe and yet.... (in Silent and Nitmod they do snipe accurately)

- only bawts will achieve 30- or 40-losing sprees, proof of their very low effectiveness

 

They do have a few pros as well : for starters, they stick to objective.....................

Additional cons :

- bots shoot through foliage, smoke and fire just as there was nothing. Especially, you CANNOT send bots into panic mode when you use the flamethrower in a and you are spraying around, which is in human-only situations über effective.

- bots shoot riflenade from so far you think they have shot an intercontinental missile.... with infinite accuracy....

I like this idea if there ends up being a compromise with this decision. As annoying as it can be to get hit with a poison knife, especially when it barely grazes your foot, there are clearly some players who really like them. I personally would not miss them, but I do think a specific class like Shoresy suggested could be a nice middle-ground.

Well, the sad truth behind that is it's a lot easier said than done 😄 

 

Making this change would require a bit of effort. It would not be a simple case of changing a value in the server config. It would require a bit of scripting. Do able sure, but beneficial compared to the work needed to make it happen? Probably not so much.  :[

That's a nice middle ground indeed.  Personally i would make it available as a reward for Covert Ops level 4 or 5.

 

Or even Covert Ops level 8, like in NQ (up to 9 levels for each skill).
