think it looks a bit better, but it is hard to tell vs. the other screenshot with such different lighting.

both are with absolutely stock config and lighting settings

They look quite different to me, which makes it hard to make a comparison.

In terms of UI / UX - provide an option to users because their is no perfect model which all will agree on. Then you will have another player base which will use picmip higher value with 4080 and high end CPU's :)

I personally used to play ET because of friends. If I need good graphics, I will play BF or COD. Nothing comes closure to ET because of many reasons, which we all know.

As long as map provides stable FPS - 125 to 250, folks will like it.

This was an optional renderer in ETL I was working on off the beta branch cl_renderer "vulk"

r_ ext_multisample (0-16) determines the quality of different textures. See how the textures are jagged and flickering a bit with 0 and how smooth and nice they look with 16.

r_lodbias (2 -  -100) Controls how detailed models look. See how the player model loose "size" and "detail" when at 2 and see how it does not change when at -500.

And for r_picmip (0 - 3), just figure it out yourself. Just dont forget to do /vid_restart each time you change the r_picmip value.

Very cool!
