Hey guys,

Little perplexed, last few days I can't login to the silent servers consistently, I'm able to connect, it fully loads(the splash screen of the map, loading bar, objectives ect, when a new map is loaded/you join a server), then sits on that screen for 5-10 minutes and kicks me out and says it can't connect to the server. I've been able to connect however and play maps, and then while on it'll switch to a map and I'll get kicked or it wont load and I'll get stuck in the loading screen limbo. Given the last tid bit of info I'm thinking it's map/server type related, I was able to join Jaymod last night and play 4-5 maps with out an issue. I've reinstalled and run the pk3 cleaner, I'm about  to the point of just uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling, but I'm not sure that it will fix my problem. Any advice or things to try would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Your Mad Friend

Hi. Does the pk3 cleaner cleans the silent mod directory as well? Maybe you just have to delete the silent mod dir (saving config first, if needed)

I remember i had such an issue when i was playing on a different silent server and then tried to play f|a again... But long time ago

just a guess..

Tried this, and it didn't load the bar completely (the loading bar) but otherwise stayed the same. I left my stats but deleted (moved) everything else in the silent folder.

Disabled my ethernet and connected to a wifi that is in my home but not part of my home network, and same issue. I tried a reboot, kept my wifi connection (no ethernet) and I disabled my DNS (just in case, and I was able to connect) so waiting for the next map and then I'll report back.

I'll keep testing your suggestions! Thanks for the quick response guys

I wonder if it is a problem with your "hunks".  A Silent-mod expert might explain.

Could be 'hunks' too low for some maps, maybe?

Well friends, I believe I've found the root cause, I'm going to run a couple more tests to confirm but appears that the problem was squarely between the chair and the screen.

TLDR (don't want to read) I turned on a strict enforcing and AI decided I didn't want to play games anymore and blocked me at my firewall, but only some packets.

little bit longer version, my firewall offered to help me with my settings using AI, thinking, hey, AI is pretty cool why not give this a try? Well friends, AI is still neat, but it is also not as smart as we think sometimes, and just slapping AI on an application doesn't make it better (I knew this before hand but fell for the gimmick). Essentially it set my packet sniffing and some other settings a little too high, and the packets that were needing to get to my desktop where getting intercepted and not handed back fast enough, hence the "disconnecting" error, and the intermediate working. So, word to the wise, AI is not very good at firewalling at this point in time. Lesson learned. I'll keep testing, but this makes sense and seems to have remediated my problem that being removing strict enforcement and disabling the AI feature. I'll update here if anything else changes, I'm going to copy my files back over and make sure it doesn't change.

I added {AI Error} to the topic title, in hopes of helping others in the future.

@madjimmie You are a "very brave soul"!  ?

I also use AI for questions and answers to perform more in-depth analyses. It's a nice feature, but I would never entrust it with making decisions, either at work or in my private life.

so, things seem to work, but intermittently it's not connecting still but once I'm on it's fine, but while on the servers the next map will load and I get stuck on the fully loaded splash screen until after the match has started I get the "FIGHT" and the match has begun, which is fine, but a little odd considering I previously got the warmup?

I was wondering, before this post, if the AI might have been more helpful if you had told it that you were using a Gaming Machine.

now I'm getting an invalid Silent GUID so that's fun.... Jaymod still works totally fine though, does this mean I'm a jaymod player now?

You can find the "Silent.dat" file in your Silent folder and open it with a text editor.

Actually, it is safer to copy & paste it to the folder and then open that one, just in case. ?

You should find 32 Hexadecimal Digits in the first line.  (0-9,A-F)

If you find anything else in that file, then it is probably corrupted.

You could PM that copied file to me and I could have a look at it.  We don't normally do that, for security reasons.

Restore from your back up. I had seen this issue when one player had virus / trojan corrupting the files in the past. By default silent.dat wouldn't be corrupted.

If that doesn't help: Only way out is to delete the silent.dat and re-join the server. It will generate new one.

IMP Note:  It will reset your XP, skills and admin level. Update new guid in profile and ask team to set your admin level back.

Come on, just tell the AI you're trying to game and go lay down for a bit. It's smart it'll listen. Eventually.

I will completely yell at my ai and call it names to get what I want its bit funny sometimes.

Or just make a new AI to assist the janky AI to do the good AI stuff AI should be AI'ing ?

I from time to time will have invalid guid happen to me as well. I simply just close game out, and give another try. So far that has fixed itself every time.
