Needing help with new FPS issue.

Hi everyone,

 

I thought it may be time to finally ask for some help!

 

I love playing the game as lag free as possible, but recently the game has become almost un-playable for me!

 

The issue I am having is, seriously poor FPS, I know I have mediocre Internet at best, it has been fine up until around 1-2 weeks ago, but now it's terrible.

 

Computer Specs - 

 

Laptop: Acer Aspire A315-35

Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) N4500 @ 1.10GHz   1.11 GHz

Installed Ram: 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)

System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Windows: 11

Display: Intel(R) UHD Graphics

Resolution: 1920x1080

 

I'm playing low graphics settings.

r_picmip 3

r_primitives 2

I have also added lots of different scripts that I have found on the FA forums that have helped, too many to mention.

 

Is this likely an internet issue to cause the horrible fps? or my game/ laptop issue?

 

If its internet I'm kind of buggered, I have no access to the internet routers/ modems and it is highly protected by my company's security system.

you can reduce you screen resolution i use high  on the game options and the game feels a bit great

I’m already running ETLegacy.

 

I’m just a little stuck, the game has been great for me, until only 1-2 weeks ago.

 

Those internet speeds really are appalling, you think it could be that ?

I had a similar issue a few years ago. I plugged my modem right into my computer and it fixed it. So I hope that’s not your issue because it doesn’t sound like you would be able to do that 🙁

 

Another lag issue I encountered I fixed it by killing all the junk processes on my computer. Microsoft edge, discord, steam, Roblox player. I killed all those processes and haven’t had lag issues since. I honestly think it was Microsoft edge. Not sure if any of this can help you because my knowledge is very limited with this. Hopefully you can find an answer!

I do have Microsoft edge, I’ll remove it and see how that goes ! Thanks mate, I won’t give up until it’s sorted !

I was having this issue when I upgraded my computer a few months back. Et was running through the Microsoft cloud. I had to completely disable MS cloud for it to work right.  I mean, I still struggle at being good at ET, but there’s no FPS issues anymore.

I disabled about any app that was auto starting.

 

I use the latest ET Legacy version (2.83.2).

 

IMO your laptop is good enough for ET. ET is a 20 year old game that do not ask that much.

 

As far as i know, r_primitives has been removed from ET Legacy. The ET Legacy development team said it was unused so they removed it. Or i missed something ?

Yes, you are correct. There is no r_primitives command in ETlegacy client. They fixed the preformance issue and removed the command.

Hi Bakes;
based on my gaming experience, for what happens to me, your ping values are very good apart from the 136 spike.
The UP and DOWN values are a bit on the edge of lag which makes me decrease my ability to control my opponents' movements. When I have values higher than 12/15 Mbps in UP I start to have fun.
Check if among the various scripts you use there are some that provide for the lowering of the FPS; the game could have saved them as default settings.
Does the console command " \com_maxfps ... " solve the problem?
