Hey all,

 

Looking for some clarity. 

I've noticed a lot of frustrating self-kills, and it's got me wondering if there's a rule or if it's always allowed, or what?

I've had people self-kill to avoid rnades hitting them, stepping on mines and self-kill to avoid mine kills, self-kill as panzers going at them. Running around the corner to self-kill during a firefight.

I do realize, if they self-kill within 2 seconds of me giving them damage, it will say "scared to death by...."  But that doesn't cover those who are avoiding the death and taking that XP away from the player. 

 

I did go through posts, but it looks like 2014/2016 are the most recent conversations about it.'

imagine making a rule like that and trying to enforce it, I'd go nuts trying to

The only rule about avoiding death is about going to spec to do so.

 

Rule 27 states: Moving to spec for specifically avoiding death is not allowed. Depending on current/past behavior, offending players will be warned or kicked or banned, based on =F|A= discretion.

I agree, 100%%%. But it’s crazy the ppl that use it to get around being killed by someone. 

I just had someone complaining about it today and wanted 100% clarity so I know what to say in the future, really.  I don’t care, it is frustrating, but I just chock it to the person being a pansy and laugh 97% of the time

For me, this is kind of a strategy. 

 

You can kill yourself to not being killed by someoe, ex.: panzer player or, you can kill yourself to born faster on some map spawn, ex.: Allies built the CP on italy map and you´re a bit far from the obj (barrier or main obj).

I def get the strategy of it. I get both sides of it. I do it too. I know my last clan would lose their 💩 when it happened. @Hawkeye14733can confirm 🤣. Old habits die hard!

For me self self-killing is same as, self-vaporizing with Panzer to avoid death from poison, using a satchel or nade to kill urself while being poisoned. or jumping from a height to die. People use lots of tactics to avoid death, so let's not make self-kill an issue.

It also tends to occur more frequently in pubs when you can't go "out full" with respect to spawn times (no punishment for SK). I've always been of the opinion that the increased spam kind of brings more self killing out of players.

 

8 rnade shots that recharge almost instantly, panzer with quick recharge, FOPs spam, and tie all that together with mortars. All of these weapons cost much more to use in an SW (stopwatch/ zero promotion) setting. It is so much easier to play a pub well as any of these classes than it would be in a low xp setting (no promotions). I don't think I've seen a single FOPs direct their airstrikes with their body placement on s1. They just throw the can and run away.

 

This is just my opinion though, I'm always a proponent of reduced spam because I played thousands of hours of Stopwatch. I understand that not everyone has that experience but some of these servers become hard to play on with 6 soldiers, 3 fops, and 25 mines on each team lol.

Wasn’t making anything an issues, as stated, just looking for clarity more than anything 😊

its bad form and a poor sport if your opponent does it in a fire fight... but not a rule-breaker... JUST CHEAP...

 

The only time I self-kill is when the objective of the map has been achieved and can advance or fall back to a different spawn. (latest example: Minas Tirith FP 3)

Take your death dammit...

this rule was implemented,

for those people who avoid the scared to death award by going into spec, and rejoining their team again via binds.

 

 

if someone constantly kills themselves to avoid the death, congratulations, 

you won the duel without even dealing damage.

 

but no, we never punished that, hence why there is no rule about it.

 

depending by the server,

some have the feature, that you will only respawn with 50% of your Stamina if you selfkill,

but assuming we´re talking about silent 1 here, @Smashy´s homeserver, 

this is not enabled there.

I was asking generally, I actually didnt know it wasn’t enabled on S1.
