OnionKnight
Does anyone know any good space sims? Lol back in the day I use to play freelancer on a private server. It was great (modding your space craft, blowing up other ppl, stealing cargo and smuggling, trying to rule the economy with a shitload of resources =D..etc). Anyone know a game like it? Saizou
I've been looking for a thing like that, but still haven't found anything decent. LucasArts had that nice X-wing series (zooming through Death Star on final level of the Alliance, mad fun), though they were more oriented on dogfights than on trading aspect. Out of the newer lot I'd say X3: Reunion or so. Do tell if you find anything.
thundercunt
I seen a NASA apace shuttle simulator somewhere. I think it was on steam. I'll see if I can find a link.
ZetaG
Check out EVE online. I haven't played it personally, but a relative who has told me about it and I think it fits your criteria. PS: I think the type of game your referring to falls under science fiction genre.
K.LisTa
EVE Online is not cheap unfortunately. Try ."Trade - Fight - Build- Think". Well this sums up quite well what you can do in this game. You start with a small ship, and then youre free to do whatever you want (youre not forced to follow the main story). You may become a trader, buy some transport ships, some factories, and start your business in the whole galaxy. Or you may prefer to be a warrior, hunt pirates, declare war on some alien species, build fleets with frigates, carriers and cruisers. Or both. Actually I like to be both The galaxy is huge, over 100 sectors, a large choice of lasers, beams, missiles, torpedoes, and of course ships. There is a good support from Egosoft, a good community, and a lot of mods (star wars, star trek, star gate, battlestar galactica, new wepons, new ships, more sectors ...). Graphics are decent/good, and the music is fine. It's not an MMO, there is no multi. Your alone, and you make your own story. Youre really free to do want you want. This is the best game since Freelancer, imo. The main difficulty is to know how to play and to understand how trading works. You MUST read the manual. Because it's really complicated. It took me more than a week to get use to it. But after that it's pure fun Edited December 13, 2010 by K.LisTa

stabak
There are some games like freelancer but all just offline playable (Recommended: X³ & X³Terran Conflict) Microsoft was working on part 2 but they have canceld it (I am not sure but I think there are still some Servers for Freelancer) So if you find a online game like Freelancer tell it to me please. RoosterCogburn
I use to play EVE, its crazy fun but more addicting that wow, so it basically ruins your current life. Be warned. Oh and prepare to bash a few keyboards when you get raped.

Found nothing. In the end I went back to Freelancer (there are mod multiplayer servers out there). They still have like 500 ppl per day playing on one server lol (mmo space sim). Not bad. Also I tried Eve in the past, but i didn't think it was worth paying for it lol
