Any of our servers can have problems from time to time,  I would definitely not reinstall any version of the ET client because of not being able to connect to just one server.

It would have been better to report the connection problem via Discord or on the forums.

I cannot help you with the ETLegacy client, due to my ignorance.

I will go check jay#3/beg#1 right now....

The records on jay3/beg1 AND on Jay#1 show that you had been on them with your correct GUID and admin level, BUT that you later connected with a different W:ET GUID that had a pink name.

I suspect that you have not put your etkey  into the right place for an ETLegacy installation.

Beg#1 shows this

Profile guid last seen Dec 21 21:47

new    guid last seen  Dec 21 22:36 (pink name)

Jay#1 shows similar information, including the pink name.

If your ETLegacy client did not "tell" the server any W:ET, then the server would download a new etkey file into the proper ETL location.

@Redbull33's link would be correct if you had an ET 2.6b installation, but I am ignorant of ETL installations.  You can search the forums for help with ETL, or perhaps my title-change of your topic will attract an ETL-Wizard. 🧙‍♀️ 🪄  🧙‍♂️ I am very sure that you are not the first with this problem. 😄

Reinstalling ET rarely (or even never) solves that kind of problem.

You could restart ET or /reconnect but not more than that.

Also, i use ET Legacy since years and my experience is that it works fine.

I use Legacy and my etkey is located here: C:\Users\yourPCname\Documents\ETLegacy\etmain

@i n f e c t e d take a look there.

I cannot see the numbers IN your etkey file, only the W:ET GUID that the server reports from it.

I believe that if you put a copy of your old etkey into the folder location that Element has provided, your XP will be restored on the FA Jaymod and NQ servers.

BEFORE you do that, if you go back to any of our jaymod servers, and do a cl_guid in the console, you will see the 'new guid' generated by the FA server using jaymod.

If you THEN replace the etkey file in "...ETLegacy\etmain" with your old saved one, restart ET and then repeat that experiment, THEN you should see that your admin level and xp have been restored.

If you do that and then post here that your problem is fixed, then I will mark Element's post as "Best Answer", which will help our readers in the future.

Just be very sure to keep a copy of your old etkey file in a 'very safe' place. 😄

AH... @Element' does he have a similar situation for his silent.dat file, for the silent servers?  I would guess so. 😄

Correct, C:\Users\yourPCname\Documents\ETLegacy\silent is where my silent.dat is located.

Go to the folder that Element shows and put a copy of your 'old' etkey into it.  Remove the 'new' one first, though.  😄

If you are using Windows OS, then open the File Explorer, and paste "C:\Users\yourPCname\Documents\ETLegacy\etmain" into the address window.  That should take you right to the "etmain" of ETLegacy.  You can then replace the etkey file that you find there with your 'old' one.  When you start ET again, that should show your 'old' W:ET GuID, the same as the one in your profile.  Your XP and admin levels on the servers should be restored to you.

No, the etkey file is not the same as the GUID.  The numbers in your etkey file are actually a "seed" from which ET 'generates' your actual GUID numbers.  (That huge 32-digit Hex number, of which we only use the last 8 digits for the GUIDs in our profiles and on the servers.)

Infected has shown us all the wisdom of keeping copies of our etkey and silent.dat files (preferably off of our computer, too) just in case our 💻 do a 💩 of any magnitude.

we can close & mark it as solved - i can't find my old key & generate a new one, my GUID is updated already on my profile. XP means nothing & can be farm back. See you on Battlefield!
