FiveMagic
you will never find a good deal in retail stores. I found a Gateway Amd triple core 2.1ghz ati 5650 for $730 at Bestbuy (Didn't buy it though), my brother the other week bought a dell for $430 with 2.2ghz duel with ati 4350, it's just about looking around and waiting for dem deals

NoGooD
+1 Thanksgiving Stay the hell away from Best buy, their return policies are terrible Newegg usually has killer deals around Thanksgiving. Dell usually has some good deals going around then also Double check the pricing for the amount of RAM included vs. upgraded on your own if you custom order from Dell. Don't buy a laptop below $700 and expect any kind of decent performance for gaming.
FiveMagic
this is the best one ive found so far http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220758 3Blackmajic You could get something so much better than that gateway for the same money http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115857 i5 with 420M vid card. http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668725.php Old gateways suck, new ones are fine and look good. The 5650 is a little better then the 420m and the i5 is duel, the Phenom is 3. I will admit best buy isn't the best but if you're not willing to do online stuff (newegg) it's an alright option. I am on a asus ul80. have one hdd with ubuntu 10.4 and another hdd with windows 7 professional. i love it. i am poor too, just throwing in some love for the ul models. only negative thing is in the BIOS you have to select what card to use, and i can't use the cd that came with the laptop, since i upgraded to win7pro. the graphics driver is a bit of an issue if you don't use the cd it comes with, because nvidia detects the wrong one, and if you install the G 210m directly from nvidia's site, or from Asus site, so far i can't get it to detect the card and it won't intsall. if you have no plan/desire to upgrade from a home version, i would say grab it. just my two cents. FiveMagic
AMD Phenom II N830 Triple-Core Benchmark = 1,942 Intel Core i5 M 460 benchmark = 2,574 the 420m or ati 5650 really only need 4.2ghz to run at their max performace which both offer, it's mostly just on looks lol. I only have a 2.2 duel core and run 95% of my games with the cpu hitting a max of 80% except Sc2 "Marine arena 1 mod" lol but thats over kill. Mines AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile M500 = 1,319 lololol Edited November 1, 2010 by 3BlackMagic
