  1. Original Boba Fett voice actor Jason Wingreen, whose numerous other credits include The Twilight Zone and All in the Family, died in his Los Angeles home on Christmas Day, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 95. Wingreen also appeared in Archie Bunker's Place and Seinfeld until his retirement in the 1990s. He also served in World War II. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wingreen auditioned for Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back, a role that ultimately went to Frank Oz. Boba Fett, a masked character who was physically performed by Jeremy Bulloch, had four lines of dialogue in that movie. Wingreen was not credited for his work--and it wasn't even widely known that he did Boba Fett's voicework until around the year 2000. The site reports that it didn't sit well with Wingreen that he didn't receive residuals for his performance, especially so because it's his voice that was used for some Boba Fett action figures. 2. Twelve individuals have been implicated in the scandal, including pro players YoDa and BBoongBBong, and team Prime head coach Gerrard. The Korean e-sports Association has stated that Gerrard and YoDa are banned for life, with a promise to pursue further "strong legal measures". Also among those facing charges are two financial backers, described as 'gangsters' with ties to organized crime. An investigation from the Changwon Regional Prosecutor's office in South Korea revealed that five professional matches had been fixed, all of which took place between January and June this year. The full details can be found at Team Liquid. Gerrard, the coach of team Prime, has been charged with acting as a middleman between the players and the brokers. Through Gerrad, BBoongBBoong was allegedly paid $4,450 USD by an unnamed broker to lose a proleague match, while YoDa is accused of receiving approximately $30,000 for intentionally losing two matches. He was then allegedly blackmailed into losing a further two matches. Gerrard received approximately $8,900 to have YoDa lose one of his matches. Earlier in the year, e-sports site Fomos revealed that Gerrard was in financial trouble, apparently having to appeal to friends and family for money. This isn't the first time the Starcraft pro scene has been plagued by match fixing, with Won 'Justin' Jong Seo fined $2700 and sentenced to 120 hours community service, plus three years probation on an 18-month prison sentence. 3. Han Solo Finn Rey Leia Kylo Ren After the release of the last full-length trailer for The Force Awakens, the Star Wars marketing machine is in its final throes at the behest of director J.J. Abrams, who has confirmed no more teasers will arrive before the movie opens. Thankfully, a massive treat arrived online today in the shape of five new character posters. Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia (Carrie Fisher), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) are the quintet given their own character-centric one-sheets. Each holds their signature weapon except for Leia, who according to StarWars.com "confidently peers through a data screen." Like the previous poster that dropped, they're stylish teasers as opposed to ripe spoiler-heavy pieces of artwork. Check 'em out above. One omission from this line-up adds further fuel to a fire started by Abrams himself a few weeks back. Galaxy golden boy Luke Skywalker has so far been absent in all marketing materials. This deliberate move is an attempt to keep spoilers at a minimum, which is, in itself a bit revealing about Skywalker's current situation. If he were the same Jedi we once knew, surely we'd have seen him by now? Find out when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in the UK on December 17 and the US on December 18. 4. Next year marks Star Trek’s 50th anniversary and in addition to celebrating the occasion with the highly anticipated Star Trek Beyond, we’ll also be getting a new TV series. Yes, you read that correctly. The exciting news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, who report that producer Alex Kurtzman – who co-wrote and produced the two most recent Star Trek movies – is now looking for a writer and will be overseeing the new show along with Heather Kadin, who has worked with Kurtzman on TV projects including Sleepy Hollow, Limitless and Scorpion. A press release that followed from CBS revealed that the new Star Trek TV show will launch in January 2017 on CBS All Access before new episodes debut on its digital and VOD platform. Details as to what timeline the show will take place in are scarce, but according to CBS the new series is not related to summer 2016’s Star Trek Beyond and it will "introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966." We’ll be bringing you more on this story at warp speed as it develops. Source http://www.gamesradar.com/new-star-trek-tv-show-way-cbs/
  5. When Electronic Arts announced the $50 Star Wars Battlefront DLC pass last month, the publisher didn't say much about what it would include. EA is still not ready to divulge all the details, but now we've learned some of what will be included. Speaking during a recent earnings presentation, EA COO Peter Moore teased that the four expansion packs will add "new universes" and more to the sci-fi shooter. "What we've announced is four extra packs over the next 12-18 months coming post launch," he said. "You'll see new universes, you're gonna see new player actions, obviously new weaponry as well." The Battlefront DLC pass sells for $50. Everyone who buys it gets access to all the new content two weeks before everyone else, as well as an exclusive "Shoot First" emote. Official details regarding the content of the Battlefront DLC pass will be announced in the "coming weeks," EA said. Assuming EA and DICE follow the same setup as the recent Battlefield games, the DLC packs are likely to cost $15 each. Moore went on to to say that DLC passes like the one for Battlefront are "integral" to keeping players engaged after a game's initial release. Also during the call, Moore revealed that preorder numbers for Battlefront are "excellent," though he did not share any specifics. Battlefront launches on November 17 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. That's about a month before the release of Disney's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first new Star Wars movie in a decade. 6. Bitter old rivalries from the Star Wars universe apparently don't apply when it comes to the political strategies of Ukraine's Internet Party. Darth Sidious, aka Emperor Palpatine, was reportedly just elected to a seat on the city council of Odessa, Ukraine's fourth largest city. And not even the arrest of Chewbacca on Election Day could stop it. Bizarre as it sounds, this is all non-fiction. Videos from multiple angles like the one below have been popping up online in the last 24 hours of someone in a full Chewbacca costume being arrested for violating a law in Ukraine that forbids campaigning on Election Day. Who was the Wookiee campaigning for? Darth Vader, of course. Ukraine's Internet Party has been adding a bit of levity and subtle satire to the country's tense politics for a few years now. While the party -- which has claimed at least 11 million members -- has had little electoral success until now, it actually has a rather serious platform centered around its call to implement an electronic government. Last year, candidate Darth Vader was denied a bid to run for the country's presidency on grounds that his application was "questionable" and potentially forged. This year, Vader made himself a candidate for mayor of Odessa. Results from the country's elections, held Sunday, won't be officially announced for a few more days. But some Ukrainian news outlets are reporting early tallies showing Vader's "colleague" Emperor Palpatine actually has won a seat on the city council with over 54 percent of votes. If this is the same Palpatine who's been involved in Internet Party politics in Ukraine in recent years, it's probably Dmitry Viktorovich Fisinchuk, who has recently worked as a trainer at a gym owned by another Internet Party member, according to The Interpreter, an online publication dedicated primarily to translating media from the Russian press and blogosphere into English. But what happened to the Wookiee? The unidentified man was arrested while trying to drive candidate Vader to the polls (so weird, right?) after failing to produce identification. The court slapped him with a $170 (about £110, $AU234) fine, which he reportedly said he was unable to pay because all his cash is tied up in galactic banks without branches or ATMs on Earth. 7. The worldwide rush to buy tickets for Star Wars Episode 7 – The Force Awakens hasn't gone smoothly for everyone. A number of agencies selling advance tickets to the sci-fi blockbuster met unprecedented demand, causing delays and outages to their online services. As Deadline reports, platforms such as Fandango, the Alamo Drafthouse, and AMC Theatres all struggled to keep up with the number of fans trying to buy tickets for the film's December 18 opening. Fandango was said to have suffered the most severe issues, with many unable to access their site at all. Similar stories were reported when tickets to UK cinemas went on sale. Predictions for The Force Awakens' box office are extremely high. In August, Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at entertainment research company Rentrak, told CNBC that the decision to release the film in December rather than the summer provided it with almost no competition from other movies. "It's going to break records like we've never seen," he said. "I think most certainly it's going to break the all-time December opening weekend record. We've never had a movie in North America open with over $100 million in December and this will happen with the next Star Wars. "That movie can play very strongly into the new year, where it's a bit less competitive than the summer time frame." The latest trailer for The Force Awakens has now been released and can be viewed here. The film is directed by JJ Abrams and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. Source http://www.gamespot.com/
  8. Disney has released a new poster for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and teased that the sci-fi film's next trailer, as rumored, will arrive tomorrow, October 19. Check out the poster below, which comes by way of Disney subsidiary ESPN. It is quite grand, showing off characters new and old, and more. This is the official theatrical poster for The Force Awakens. A tweet from SportsCenter suggests that the new Force Awakens trailer will air during halftime of Monday Night Football's New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles matchup. The game starts at 8:30 PM EDT on ESPN, which means halftime should be around 10 PM EDT. This news comes just hours after Force Awakens actor John Boyega told fans to "get ready." The first Force Awakens poster was designed by Star Wars veteran Drew Struzan, though it's not clear if he's also behind this one. Source http://www.gamespot.com/

The Star Wars Battlefront Beta begins on October 8 and runs until October 12. a senior developer at DICE has indicated microtransactions won't be included in Star Wars Battlefront. "[Microtransactions are] not part of the core design of how it works," said design director Niklas Fegraeus. "This is a progression system based on your gameplay performance." 10. Felix 'PewDiePie' Kjellberg has become the first YouTube user to exceed more than ten billion views on his channel. Kjellberg announced the milestone, which he hit on September 6, 2015, on Twitter to his six million followers Kjellberg created the PewDiePie channel six years ago. In December of 2012, he signed a deal with online video content creator Maker Studios, which is now owned by Disney. Discussion his popularity on YouTube, Kjellberg previously said it is somewhat unsettling: "I'm so central to YouTube now, and that puts me in the spotlight and raises a lot of questions like 'Why is he so big?'" Kjellberg said. "I'd much rather prefer to have something like 5 million subscribers." The PewDiePie channel currently has just over 39 million subscribers. https://www.youtube.com/user/PewDiePie The subject of how much money PewDiePie earns has been a hot topic of discussion this year. In July it was reported that he earned 63 million SEK (around $7.5 million) in 2014 and generates over $4 million in ad sales per year. The YouTube star responded to negative comments resulting from the reports of his earnings with a six-minute video that recounts his rise to prominence and said "money doesn't make you happy." He said: "Money is a topic that I purposefully tried to avoid for the five years I've been making videos. I just feel like it's not important to anyone. I just want to make entertaining videos. "Whenever it comes out how much I made a certain year, people just get so shocked. A lot of people were also very angry. They thought it was unfair. They thought I just sit on my ass and I yell at the screen over here--which is true--but there's so much more to it than that." He continued: "I understand that haters are going to hate, but I really think that money doesn't make you happy. I'm just as happy now as I was five years ago. I'm very happy that I don't have to worry about paying rent." PewDiePie, who is known primarily for his Let's Play videos also regularly organises charity drives. In June, 2014 he raised $630,000 for the Save the Children charity. Source http://www.gamespot.com/
  11. NASA presented the image of a nebula generated by the material ejected from a star that exploded and became supernova called " The Hand of God." This is the first time a high definition image is captured, where we see the extended fingers and thumb object at about 17 thousand light years from Earth and discovered in the 80s. The X-ray picture was captured by the telescope NuSTAR Address Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). NASA scientists are not sure if the ejected material has taken the shape of a hand or whether its interaction with the particles of the pulsar wind nebula makes it look that way. "We do not know if the image of the hand is an optical illusion," said Hongjun An McGill University in Montreal, Canada, in a statement of the NuSTAR mission. NuSTAR scientists hope the image helps provide insight into the phenomenon of black holes and how they grow and interact with the galaxies.
