This should help Long Link

Usually it was missing sdl libs for et that caused no sound. Check if your system has proper volume on specific programs, and if it goes through right sound device.

sound manager have digital & analog option to choose and non of working.

system is running now pulseaudio 8.0 should i try alsa?

------- sound initialization -------
/dev/dsp: No such file or directory
Could not open /dev/dsp
------------------------------------
Sound memory manager started
Sys_LoadDll(/home/maanis/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so)...
Sys_LoadDll(/home/maanis/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so) failed:
"/home/maanis/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Sys_LoadDll(/home/maanis/ETpro/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so)... ok
Sys_LoadDll(ui) found **vmMain** at  0xebbfaf40
Sys_LoadDll(ui) succeeded!
Found high quality video and fast CPU

Have you tried setting the sound quality to maximum in ET? Then restart ET (snd_restart might work too)

When I played ET on Linux, I had the same issue. There IS a fix, but that was so long ago, and so fresh for many people it was easy to find. Just keep digging, it's out there

those fix are out of date, i searching things now and i found 2.60b need to use alsa driver & newest linux distros have pulseaudio .

and i found magig line:

sudo modprobe snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss
sudo apt update

here link: https://superuser.com/questions/1003665/how-to-select-which-sound-output-device-to-use-for-dev-dsp-oss-emulation#1003702

this emulate alsa driver and i got sound work now, im not sure need to do this command every reboot

other option might be a really old kernel which have already alsa support , i didnt test that.

so i think this is solved now.
