Hello.

I recently started playing ET. After I played on some servers it seems I downloaded some maps and mods, one of which I can not disable.

It changes the menu to a red/white color and is loaded with advertisement for this website/the game servers.

The game also started crashing randomly.

My question is:

What files must I delete to get rid of it?

In your "etmain" folder, there should be a file named "~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.pk3" (with varying numbers of "~", I didn't count). Delete it (or however many of them there are), and you should be good to go. However, your game crashing may be a separate issue, those .pk3s shouldn't have an effect on its stability.

Thanks alot.

Maybe the crashing is a compatibility issue I was just lucky to not encounter before. I use win 7.

In windows vista and windows 7, sometimes when u download the mod first time, your ET hangs. Just restart ET and join back. It's known bug which many encounter.

AFAIK one clan has released pk3, so when you press any damm button in menu, you will connect to there server. Even when you click on "Host Server" or "Options" you will join there server. :) Medic has released new pk3 cleaner to clean those junk pk3. Feel free to use that. :)

Depending on what mod your using (Etpub, Jaymod, No Quarter etc) occasionally a .pk3 can end up in the mod folder that may cause problems. This typically occurs when you connect to a server and begin to download a file, and disconnect in the middle of the download. The solution is to find the .pk3 file in your ET folder and delete it. Often times it will be labeled as (name of file).pk3.temp.

What I just described is fairly rare though and more than likely what Brisk suggested was true. The game crashing issue is unrelated.

If you want to keep from downloading the menu, etc again heres a suggestion. Once you start Enemy Territory and prior to joining a server, bring down your console (using the tilde key (`) if your keyboard is qwerty) and type

/cl_allowdownload 0

This will keep the menu from being downloaded, but will also keep things like maps, soundpacks etc from being downloaded as well. If you intend on playing F|A servers quite a bit I would recommend not doing so.

Good luck and see you in game. :hi

Edit: Doh! Didn't see DD replied while I was writing. Word on the street is he knows a thing or two about ET. :P

Alright, again thanks for all the help. Hope to kill you all soon :P

EDIT:

So... I tested some more, and everytime this mod thingy is installed, the game crashes after I connect to a server and try to spawn.

Doesn't matter anymore though, because I now know how to delete the ~~~~~~~~~~.pk3 and then I simply join another sever.
