I'm wondering if some of you tried to connect your pc to a tv screen to obtain a wider view of the game.

I figured it could improve the sight ingame, especially for long distance shots where I suck.
The only drawback I can figure is that you must have a sufficient vision recoil, in order not to be to close.

Those who did try, what's your experience and advise ? Did you keep it ?

I do that for years now.. no matter the game.. FPS, BF3, racing games, SF4 Ultra,SF x Tekken, so on.. I can even not imagine play on a small screen now. (mine is about 38/39 inches)

my tips for ET..

- avoid HD reso game setting (1920x1080).. makes the game looks nice but harder for gameplay.. Plus a good choice of reso+the proper fov setting will avoid you this issue of vision recoil. I use 1280x1024 as reso & 120 as fov.

- HDMI seems to have a better responsiveness than VGA according all my tests.. But I use VGA coz the rendering looks less pixelated.

- make sure to enable the gaming mode on your tv, and if ever it has none, disable all kind of enhancement.. I disable all enhancements even with the gaming mode on my tv and also set the sound of speakers and the definition on 0.

edit: and yes it really helps for long range shots.. and according some my accuracy with smg's at long range is amazing.. even though to me it's "normal". But that must be true since I often get such remarks\comments.

I never thought of changing the TV to game mode. I also have to change my FOV to 120 - using a 32" Samsung TV, but the rendering isn't quite right. I just assumed it was my crappy GPU

game mode slightly change the size and rendering in my case.. But this mode helps mostly with the input lag of your screen. Each model of TV has its own specs\performances.

Had to dig a bit, but found again the charts that could help if ever someone plans to buy a new tv and uses it as pc\gaming monitor:

Moved from 22" to 27" and it´s already easier to notice things, but for FPS a 120Hz monitor is a must. Whenever my PC\monitor defaults to 60Hz I can always notice it, it feels like dragging my mouse through porridge, compared to response of 144Hz monitor.

Just my 2 cents

nothing.. In all cases, nothing obligatory, unless you wish to adjust "gameplay" settings that might suit better the size of screen. My son uses my cfg on his 21" screen, and the only things changed are the cvar for his video card reference and the sensi.. nothing else.
