Hi all, noob question time. I wonder if someone can help me with my cfg. I am using a notebook (plugged into TV)  to play ET as my PC has died. CPU = intel atom N2600 (1.6Ghz, 1MB L2 cache) memory = 1Gb DDR3 and windows 7. My fps jumps between 5-43 ( using /com_maxfps 43) Can someone give me a cfg for performance please, I know ET will look crappy but that is ok. I have never messed with these things before so will also need help on where to put the cfg and how to exec if you will be so kind. Thanks in advance, Player2 :x

// May increase performance, but has very poor graphic quality.
// Cfg based on my graphic cfg.
// Designed mostly for NoQuarter.
// Cfg created entirely by -=PDP=-Scarhand, do not steal.
// Written in notepad with size 14 font, Times New Roman.

exec "preset_fast_ui.cfg"
// You can use fastest if you want instead of fast.

Change the OS to XP, windows 7 on that laptop wont leave much headroom for the game at all...

Also lower the resolution as anything over 800x600 is going to push that old laptop a bit... :)

Currently using 800x600. May be able to get windows XP on here not sure, ill need to ask a friend. I would like to try to fix this with a cfg first though, thanks for help so far :D

Id be happy even if fps was stable at 43

There is no need to change anything in your current config. Those are mostly lowest settings.
Add at the end

r_primitives "2"
vid_restart

then ingame exec your config.

You can try different values of this cvar 0 - default, 1 or 2. It changes render method so on newer computers 2 has no fps drops and - has.

Thanks, i changed some of the cvars ingame that i posted above and it made a small difference, ill try this "primitives" one , where do i add this? in etconfig.cfg? and to execute i would do in console /exec etconfig.cfg ? thanks! :D

You add this to config you posted at #3 post.

You can make new file just for it if you don't know where to put it.

For example

primitives.cfg and in game you just do /exec primitives
